fishrepair Posted March 29, 2009 #1 Posted March 29, 2009 I need to find out about a Reverse Gear For A 1986 Venture Royale Trike. I am disabled in my right leg and find it really hard to back up without getting off and pushing it back.
Cougar Posted March 29, 2009 #2 Posted March 29, 2009 None out there yet, I have been looking myself. Hannigan just came out with a kit for the Harley though so maybe it is a matter of time. If you do find one please let us know. Jeff
Cougar Posted March 29, 2009 #3 Posted March 29, 2009 If just backing it into the garage. install a small winch low to the ground on the back wall of the garage. make sure you get the remote start for it. Then place the cable around the hitch. steer a little with one hand if you can do that. That might be another option for you. Jeff
Rottdoglover Posted March 30, 2009 #4 Posted March 30, 2009 I have (at work) a picture of a reverse set up for anything with a driveshaft. It is quite simple. A car flywheel is mounted to the pinion. Then the starter is positioned on a bracket so it meshes to flywheel. A push button engages starter, and starter turns flywheel which turns pinion. I would think it may be a bit noisy, but it would make the trike reverse. I'll try to get pic posted in near future.

fishrepair Posted August 24, 2009 Author #6 Posted August 24, 2009 Wow! That sounds great. I, and some of the other, hundreds of disabled would really appreciate it if you could post pictures and some kind of diagram. I've been waiting for this info for a long time. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Rottdoglover Posted August 25, 2009 #7 Posted August 25, 2009 This is the best I can do. Saw it on a bike powered buggy. Looks simple enough.
fishrepair Posted August 25, 2009 Author #8 Posted August 25, 2009 Thanks Rottdoglover, I have something to go by now and I believe that I can rig up something that will work.Ray
