Reaney in NH Posted March 28, 2009 #2 Posted March 28, 2009 Mind Boggling isn't it? Our Government throws thos numbers around like its pocket change.
Uturn Posted March 28, 2009 #3 Posted March 28, 2009 Mind Boggling isn't it? Our Government throws thos numbers around like its pocket change. How about we re-phrase this to read: " Our Government throws OUR money around like its pocket change! " MIKE aka Uturn
Squeeze Posted March 28, 2009 #4 Posted March 28, 2009 I've said this since four Years or so ... When talking about Money, i'd forbid the use of the "Billion" and "Trillion" as well as the next Potency. This goes for everybody, Government, Politics, Company Leaders and Media. If they want to talk about any Amount of Money, they would be restricted to use "Million". A Billion is 1000 Million Dollars and that's what i made them say, nothing else... A Company lost one "Billion" ?? huh, i'm sorry to hear ... NO, they ought to say "We lost one thousand Million Dollars" !!! The Gov' shells out bailing Money .... let them name it by figural Numbers !! That would show them and everybody else what Numbers they're really talking about. A Million Dollars is a Number all People can imagine. And they all can relate what it takes to have one. Fine for each misuse in public would be 100,000.00 USD for the first Mishap, 500,000.00 for the second and one Million for the third. After that i'd set a exponential increase. One Million is 1x10^6 Dollars, then 1x10^7 USD(ten Million), next Time 1x10^8(one hundred Million) and so on ...
BEER30 Posted March 28, 2009 #5 Posted March 28, 2009 Main question is , "How many RSV's can you buy with a Trillion dollars , with a "T" " ? P.S. (As portrayed by a very important history event) The New Paul Revere , riding an RSV through many US towns and cities , yelling , " The Socialist are coming , the Socialist are coming !!!!!" I would have said a he was riding a HD , but he's break down after the first city ! :rotf: BEER30
wild hair 39 Posted March 28, 2009 #6 Posted March 28, 2009 do the math 300,000,000 divided into 1,000,000,000,000,=to$ 3,330.00,per every man, woman, child,in the US,now who don't pay taxes now each time you look at a person, thats $3,330.00 standing there, and what is his credit line
GG54172 Posted March 28, 2009 #7 Posted March 28, 2009 Our government spends more money by 10am on a monday than the country of Ukraine spends in an entire year. _______________________________________ If you had 1 million dollars, and you spent $3,333 per day, it would take you 300 days to spend all of it. If you had 1 billion dollars, and you spent $3,333 per day, it would take you 821 years to spend all the money. If you had 1 trillion dollars, and you spent $3,333 per day, it would take you 82,000 years to spend all of the money. ________________________________________ That being said, the government spends money and buys products from contractors. From large ones (Boeing, Pratt Whitney, GE, GM, Ford) to small ones. When I worked at the Army we were required to source projects to companies with 15 employees or less. When the Beagle 2 mars rover mission failed reporters said that 300+ million was wasted by the british government. Not really Those millions of dollars pay laborers, manufacturers, engineers, etc. Who turn around and pay for groceries, tuition, coffee, automobiles, and so on. The only "waste" was the scrapped materials and the knowledge we didn't gain. In conclusion, I like paved roads, a criminal justice system, a post office, and a few otehr things I pay for. Could the government be more efficient? Hell yeah. Are the politicians complete idiots, it sure seems so. Are there government programs that spend money on projects I don't like? Yes. But it's what we have.
KiteSquid Posted March 29, 2009 #8 Posted March 29, 2009 Main question is , "How many RSV's can you buy with a Trillion dollars , with a "T" " ? Here is my answer to your question: One Trilion dollars is: $1,000,000,000,000 that is a one with 12 zeros behind it!!!! Or better stated A trillion is a million million dollars. If you bought 2008 RSVs at MSRP as stated on the Star Motorcycles web site, and excluded taxes and fees as they vary widely, you could buy: At MSRP of $18,690 for the Royal Star Venture S: Seashell/Raven model you could buy 53,504,547 bikes and have $16,570 remainder to buy some gas... AND at MSRP of $18,190 for the Candy Red/Raven model you could buy 54,975,261 bikes and have $2410 remainder to buy some gas... However I have a difficult time riding more than one bike at a time, so to look at it another way, you could ride a brand new RSV S model bike every day for 146,587.8 YEARS!!!!!! OR if every one of the 6,862 currently registered members of this forum were to get in on it that would be 7797.223404255319148936170212766 bikes for EACH MEMBER with only $2.41 each to buy gas.... That would let every member ride a new bike every day for 21.36 YEARS!!!!!!!

Yammer Dan Posted March 30, 2009 #11 Posted March 30, 2009 Don't seem like my paycheck is worth picking up now.

KiteSquid Posted March 30, 2009 #13 Posted March 30, 2009 BEER30 reminded me that this forum is for a group of eaters with a riding disorder by saying: You forgot to calculate the purchase of Dairy Queen . Shame on you ! Now get your Chinese calculator out again and reconfigure it up for us , please . so let me sharpen my electronic pencil and get to work... One Trillion dollars is: $1,000,000,000,000 that is a one with 12 zeros behind it!!!! Or better stated A trillion is a million million dollars. There were 6,862 registered members at the time of my first post, so if you divide $1T evenly you would get $145,730,107.84 each. From the not to detailed information at the DQ website it costs APROXMITALY $1.5M to set up a DQ... so each member could build 97 DQ restaurants for a total of 665,614 new DQ's world wide!!!!! with each member having $230,107.84 left over to purchase motorcycles. That would buy each member 12 RSV S models with $5827.84 left over to buy peanut buster parfaits at the DQ's of other members. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/13/17834768_5ef5d87cfb.jpg BEER30, Did I get it right this time?
