Jethroish Posted March 25, 2009 #1 Posted March 25, 2009 Just got some led accent light. Six small srtips of 5 or 6 lights per strip. 1. is it best to put them on their own on/off switch or jsut wire them into the running lights? 2. wire them up in parrallel or series (after an inline fuse of course)? For under the trunk, I was just going to tie 2 of them into the led tail light. Then 2 under the tank, one just above the radiator and maybe the last under the seat above the side covers.
Eck Posted March 25, 2009 #2 Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) put them on their own switch & fused wiring......... Switch suggestions: http://www.customdynamics.com/metric_accent_light_switches.htm http://thewingstore.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=654 Edited March 25, 2009 by Eck
50btripn Posted March 25, 2009 #3 Posted March 25, 2009 check your state laws governing aftermarket lighting...they are illegal here in Alabama. Definitely put them on their own switch.
Eck Posted March 25, 2009 #4 Posted March 25, 2009 check your state laws governing aftermarket lighting...they are illegal here in Alabama. From what I have been told by Madison county Police Dept., it depends on their color... RED & Blue are illegal..period.. Green and White are fine ......provided they are not "projecting light" back towards a vehicle behind you.
50btripn Posted March 25, 2009 #5 Posted March 25, 2009 Alabama's Attorney General, a few years back, sent out a "memo" to help clarify the law, and in a nutshell, any auxiliary lighting not installed by the manufacturer is unauthorized/illegal while on Alabama roadways. The "memo" came out after several tickets were issued by Montgomery P.D. for the neon lights under the vehicles, and the judge(s)/prosecutors wanted better clarification. You can have them installed, and sit in a parking lot with them on all night long, but once you hit the roadways, they have to be turned off, according to the "memo".
Jethroish Posted March 26, 2009 Author #6 Posted March 26, 2009 Well, got lights put on with a hidden rocker switch.
