Iowawegian Posted March 25, 2009 #1 Posted March 25, 2009 I belong to the Virago website, but it's not as user friendly for me. I know there are Virago owners on this website....so here's my question. I have a 95 1100 Virago. I am wondering if there are any wind deflectors to put on it. I've tried doing searches but haven't seen anything. Everytime I ride, I have to hold my left hand, palm down, by the gas tank to deflect the wind. The crazy thing is it's only the left side. Don't know if they make them for Virago's or not. Anyone have any knowedge?
gibvel Posted March 25, 2009 #4 Posted March 25, 2009 Here's some lowers I found on Cruiser Customizing: Memphis Shades Universal Lowers And the Mounting Hardware: Mounting Hardware Don't know if you already have a windshield or not but, I think, these should work.

Well, here's a dumb question....are they usually called "lowers" instead of wind deflectors?

Iowawegian Posted March 25, 2009 Author #7 Posted March 25, 2009 Well, no wonder I had a hard time searching yesterday. Apparently I just make up names for different bike parts!! Ok, so I didn't realize they would be so pricey...and frugal me....has anyone ever custom or for lack of better word home made them? The hubby is very, very talented at custom making things and just wondered if it was something he could come up with?
pegscraper Posted March 25, 2009 #8 Posted March 25, 2009 Yes, a guy who's handy could probably fab up something. I've seen pictures of a couple such arrangements on other bikes. My thought about them was that they were something only a mother could love. Myself, I would have rather spent the money to have a nice looking piece. But maybe your DH can do better than that. The other side of rolling your own is that they can be made as big or small as they need to be.
rod Posted March 26, 2009 #9 Posted March 26, 2009 Plexiglass is easy to work with. Get 1/4" thick and and after cutting to shape heat to around 250-300 deg and you can bend it to any shape you want. U bolts will work for mounting but not real pretty. Good luck Rod
Iowawegian Posted March 26, 2009 Author #11 Posted March 26, 2009 Try these. www.buckslowers.com I'm unable to pull up that website. Am I doing something wrong?
gibvel Posted March 26, 2009 #12 Posted March 26, 2009 I'm unable to pull up that website. Am I doing something wrong? No, the link is bad. Try this one. Bucks Lowers I don't, however, see anything at that site for the Virago. But then I didn't look around extensively.
