birin Posted March 23, 2009 #1 Posted March 23, 2009 I need some wiring help. I purchased the 1 - 253-4400 Red Ultra Light Bar w/ Turn Signals - US 15" Ultra Light Bar w/ Turn Signals - but I can't seem to get the wiring right - and I have misplaced the packaging. I know the Venture wiring is: Green - right Brown- left Blue- running Yellow - brake Black - gound The light bar has only 4 wires and not sure how to connect? I have the left and right and running working - but cant get the brake light to work? The light bar wiring is (I think?): green - right yellow- left brown running white - ground So where is the brake light? Can anyone assist? Appreciate your help. BBIRINill
MiCarl Posted March 24, 2009 #2 Posted March 24, 2009 Your problem is that the light bar doesn't have a separate brake circuit from the turn signals. It's essentially the same issue people have with 4 wire trailer connections. You need a 5-4 wire converter from the auto parts store or from a trailer supply place.
CrazyHorse Posted March 25, 2009 #3 Posted March 25, 2009 Is there a company web site you could download instructions.
birin Posted March 25, 2009 Author #4 Posted March 25, 2009 I bought the unit from Chrome Glow and they have not responded to my request for assistance. I think the suggestion to buy and install a converter is accurate. I need to find a 3 to 2 converter. It takes the Ventures individual right turn, left turn and brake wires and converts that to a two wire out put. When the brake is applied - the converter really just applies the left and right signals simultaneously - in effect producing a single bright light. In fairness - the Chrome Glow - website does state that the light bar can be used for showing signals or showing brake lights - NOT BOTH. Thats the problem with the light - it now needs a seperate electrical fix which makes the light very expensive to provide both functions. I am debating buying and inserting the converter - or simply wiring it for brake light only. The bike is apart - so I will look at the converter price and availability and make a choice this week before closing it all up
jrcain32 Posted March 25, 2009 #5 Posted March 25, 2009 I just bought a 5-4 converter at WalMart for $12 to hook a 4 wire trailer harness. I added a 15" LED running/brake light with no problems.

After looking at this 5 to 4 Converter and what I know from above the LIGHT BULB above my head has not gone off or on. Can anyone post a wire by wire or color by color wire scheme or diagram. Lastly if you have this installed and are willing to pull your License Plate feel free to call me (231) 846-0090. EASTERN TIME ZONE. TY

I notice you did not mention TURN SIGNALS??? (I was able to install With TURN SIGNALS or BAKE LIGHT but NOT BOTH without 5-4 Converter). Did you get BOTH with Converter???
99silver Posted April 12, 2009 #8 Posted April 12, 2009 You can run the both, brake and running light on the running light wire. I can get the part #'s tomorrow. Two diodes and a resistor from Radio Shack for less than $4.00 and a little effort. I'll send them to ya, but it will most likely be later in the evening. Gary
