1rooster Posted March 22, 2009 #1 Posted March 22, 2009 I am in the process of building a one wheel trailer.Here are a few possibilities so tell me what you think,be honest please. http://thumb8.webshots.net/t/73/173/1/49/38/2189149380037297848YaelBj_th.jpg http://thumb8.webshots.net/t/66/766/4/63/81/2392463810037297848OwfbEK_th.jpg http://thumb8.webshots.net/t/73/173/4/47/95/2549447950037297848twDqMc_th.jpg http://thumb8.webshots.net/t/66/766/7/60/83/2363760830037297848RtjgsO_th.jpg
DragonRider Posted March 22, 2009 #2 Posted March 22, 2009 :rotfl: Not sure what to make of it....................
cliffno350 Posted March 22, 2009 #3 Posted March 22, 2009 hard too see pictures are too small,:puzzled:
Squidley Posted March 22, 2009 #4 Posted March 22, 2009 Pics are a bit small Gerry, little tough to see, but I would want to comment on a few things. The trunk seems a bit high up, and it looks like it would be too far back and take away all your tounge weight when it was loaded, I would definitely not put it there as your handling would be drastically affected. I think that I would stick with just the saddlebags and put some sort of cooler rack in front of them to give you more tounge weight. I have had an idea to do just what your doing with 2nd gen saddlebags for a few years now. I just haven't had the extra monies to get all the parts and just do it. Doesn't look like I'll be able to get to it anytime soon either Mine would be a 2 wheel trailer as the G2 bags open from the top and not the sides. With one wheel I would want to keep the bags as close to the ground as feasable to keep a low center balance point. Your onto a good idea and I do hope that some others will chime in and spread somne fabricating knowledge
mother Posted March 22, 2009 #5 Posted March 22, 2009 cool idea fender and saddlebags would look great. skip the trunk box, too high CG. keep the pics coming cheers, Scott
wild hair 39 Posted March 22, 2009 #6 Posted March 22, 2009 i thank about building one also, thank the suppenson has got me to thanking, maybe the suppenson from a big rige seat, would be good for 2 to 300 lbs also has little shocks on them, also sume tractor seats tor bars on them what do you thank:lightbulb:
PBJ Posted March 22, 2009 #8 Posted March 22, 2009 Instead of a cooler put the trunk on the tongue in front of the saddlebags to keep it low and balanced.

1rooster Posted March 22, 2009 Author #13 Posted March 22, 2009 Decided to can the trunk. It does have a chrome fender on it but I will replace it with a Venture fender and lights and maybe even a bumper. It still has the original shocks but I relocated them to lower the fender closer to the tire. Thanks for all your suggestions and keep them coming. http://inlinethumb43.webshots.com/44906/2363760830037297848S600x600Q85.jpg
mother Posted March 22, 2009 #14 Posted March 22, 2009 It's a small trailer..... Rooster, you crack me up. i am wiping tears from my eyes as i type. good one, ya made my day.
Marcarl Posted March 23, 2009 #15 Posted March 23, 2009 Cool stuff. Now you can take this a little further, put in a hydraulic pump, some lines and a hydraulic motor and you got yourself a two wheel drive.
hig4s Posted March 23, 2009 #16 Posted March 23, 2009 Considering there is a brake on that wheel, are you going to use a sliding tongue with the brake actuation rod attached to it so the trailer has brakes? Also, I'm not sure if light tongue weight has the same adverse effects on a one wheel trailer as on a two wheel trailer, as long as the tongue is not lifting up on the bike.
midnightventure Posted March 24, 2009 #17 Posted March 24, 2009 I might be stating something obvious, but the trailer has to be mounted so that when the bike leans the trailer leans and yet it needs to be able to flex up and down and left and right. I used a ujoint from a steering column on mine. I don't have a suspension but it pulls great.

ronhenry4 Posted March 24, 2009 #19 Posted March 24, 2009 i like this one to http://www.goodguyspowersports.com/proddetail.php?prod=Tow-PacSidePack
mother Posted April 29, 2009 #20 Posted April 29, 2009 so Gerald, how is the trailer coming along? cheers, Scott
BradT Posted April 29, 2009 #21 Posted April 29, 2009 You could always mount something cosmetic (useless) where the trunk was to give it some shape, may even help with airflow. Like the idea of the cooler rack on the tongue. A single wheel trailer just needs to be fixed so that it leans when the bike leans. Brad
mraf Posted April 29, 2009 #22 Posted April 29, 2009 This one. Painted to match your bike. http://thumb8.webshots.net/t/73/173/1/49/38/2189149380037297848YaelBj_th.jpg
1rooster Posted April 29, 2009 Author #23 Posted April 29, 2009 so Gerald, how is the trailer coming along? cheers, Scott Kinda like on hold right now.The bags off the 84 just dont have the right shape. The 86 and newer, being bigger and flat on the backside would be perfect.Looking for a set.
