bongobobny Posted March 21, 2009 #2 Posted March 21, 2009 (edited) '83 - '85 pre sn 1470 and the problem was a weak thrust bearing. Do a search to get more info. The brunt of the issue, you could loose 2nd gear, and fix runs around $800 to have it done for you, do it yourself for a couple of bucks, or live without 2nd gear. It just pops out of gear, no nasty metal breakage or anything like that... Edited March 21, 2009 by bongobobny

It starts the slip around 3500rpm, so I shift to 3rd before that. It's not hurting anything, and I plan on fixing it next winter.
