a1bummer Posted March 20, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 20, 2009 The other day my speedo quit working while I was in Marshfield. I just figured it had froze up and snapped my cable again. But I thought it was kind of strange for that to happen when it wasn't making any noise before it quit. After I got home I started tearing the things apart to get at the speedo. when I got the cable off the speedo I noticed there was nothing inside. When I looked at the other end, it had come loose and fell off and the center slid out somewhere along the road. D'OH!
Venturous Randy Posted March 20, 2009 Share #2 Posted March 20, 2009 What a bummer, No pun intended!! But, I guarantee you are not the 1st to have that happen and won't be the last. RandyA
mraf Posted March 20, 2009 Share #3 Posted March 20, 2009 You are not alone. Mine fell off the 83 I had. I found it though about a 1/8th mile form my driveway. My lucky day. Put it back in but made sure I used pliers to tighten it good. Gravity sucks.
OutKast Posted March 21, 2009 Share #4 Posted March 21, 2009 Bubba thought about making some comment about how a 2nd gen would never have a problem like that, but Bubba hates it when them 1st gen guys do that, so he will take the high road and not say nuttin'. Rocket Posted March 21, 2009 Share #9 Posted March 21, 2009 When I looked at the other end, it had come loose and fell off and the center slid out somewhere along the road. D'OH! That is why, I reversed the internal cable on mine, as it can't be lost. Yes, it is more involved to lube it this way, but so what.....
