MidlifeVenture Posted March 19, 2009 #1 Posted March 19, 2009 Did some searches came up empty handed. Other than Dons MD does anything ever go on in the Ohio area. You know any rides or meet and eats, that I see happening all over the world on this sight. Just seems strange that the sight originates right around the corner and nothing else happens around here.
Skid Posted March 19, 2009 #2 Posted March 19, 2009 I was at Meet & Eat at an old time Ice Cream Shop in Ripley Ohio last fall. About twenty folks and had a great time....

Just seems strange that the sight originates right around the corner and nothing else happens around here. If you don't see much happening in your area you can do something about it! Pick a date, a time and a place, maybe a ride afterwards. Post it in the Meet & Eats section and see who shows up. A couple of us have tried to kickstart some things here in Indiana. Just do it and you'll have a good time, my first one we only had 4 bikes but it was a great time. Last fall for the same ride we had 14 bikes and a Miata show up.
Dano Posted March 20, 2009 #4 Posted March 20, 2009 Now you know why I moved to Indy from Columbus back in 1980! Dan
Yama Mama Posted March 20, 2009 #5 Posted March 20, 2009 I live in Cincinnati, Ohio and there just does not seem to be many meet and eats planned in Ohio. I do not know why really. There are a bunch of members in Indiana, and they seem to have them. I know there are a few members here in Cincinnati and the surrounding areas. May be we can work on this in the near future. Yama Mama
Leadwolf56 Posted March 20, 2009 #6 Posted March 20, 2009 Or you can ride to any Meet & Eats you can and see how they are. I've not only ridden 400 miles to a Meet & Eat but have run my own up to 200 miles away from my home. Just depends on how you want to do it.
Dano Posted March 20, 2009 #7 Posted March 20, 2009 Hey Peg, did you take that pic yourself or were you in it! Sorry, I'll take my punishment at M Day! Couldn't resist! Dan
ken Posted March 20, 2009 #8 Posted March 20, 2009 I live in northwest ohio and ready to ride! Oh wait a minute someone will have to loan me a bike first.

Scot Michigan has a few meet and eats and it is only 230 miles away, then you could also cross the border and meet up with the Ontario group as we have them everyother month or so and that is about 300 miles. Leadwolf has came to at least three of our meets. They even let him back in to go home (right Darren 93 Venture) ? Brad

So when have you rode 400 miles to a Meet & Eat? One way, not round trip? And how come you wouldn't let me have any more quarters? That was just plain mean. :rotf::rotf::rotf:
highwaypeg Posted March 21, 2009 #17 Posted March 21, 2009 Hi I am from Ohio too. I have noticed nothing really is ever happening in Ohio as far as Meet and Eats. My husband has a Harley so we usually hang around with his Harley friends. I am out numbered. They sort of laugh at my V Star which upsets me, because I love my bike. And when theirs break down, I can ride by and wave. I better be careful, my husband will be mad if he reads this. Ride Safe Buckeyes, highwaypeg:15_9_28[1]:
MidlifeVenture Posted March 21, 2009 Author #18 Posted March 21, 2009 Well at least I'm not missing anything other than MD my "little family" still consumes most of my time. Such as june 6 will be my sons graduation party so MD is out of the question but I was just looking to see if there were any other opportunities to meet some people in the area. I was looking at joining the local Star chapter 178 this year but do to the economy I think it is wiser not to spend the money on that when I am worried about keeping what I have. Go on rides with some HD friends but they seem to go for bar hopping rides that end in stupid decisions that make me hope they don't end up as a statistic. Well another day another time I'm sure I will run it someone down the line.:thumbsup2:
Freebird Posted March 21, 2009 #19 Posted March 21, 2009 Scott, We sure need to have more meets and eats here and there is no reason not to do so. Also, you could check out the local chapter here of the MTA. That is Motorcycle Touring Association. They have monthly meetings near Avon, OH but they also have a lot of scheduled day rides as well as weekend rides throughout the summer. I've known most of them for a long time and they are a GREAT group to ride with. A mix of Ventures, Wings, Voyagers, a Harley or two. Very family oriented group. They do NOT require you to join the MTA National to ride with them. Guests are very much accepted. Don
DragonRider Posted March 21, 2009 #20 Posted March 21, 2009 Some of you noting there isnt much happening in your area ought to take the bull by the horns and put one together, I did that back in 2005 with a little get together in a state park about 140 miles from where I live and I only had 77 bikes from 17 states and Canada show up...........Today that meet and eat is now known as. The Tail of the Dragon Venture In @ Vogel State Park. It happens every August, with the exception of 2008, and it just keeps getting better and better..........so dont worry about how many show up, like someone once said. "Build it and they will come" :Venture: And believe me they will come, to date the total attendance at the past Vogels is over 250 bikes with some even coming in their cages.........That first Vogel was a 1 1/2 day event, now its goes from Wed. till Sunday. But dont worry about how many you have, whether it be 2-3 bikes or hundreds of bikes you will have a great time meeting all the great members of this website.
campfire12 Posted March 21, 2009 #21 Posted March 21, 2009 Just bought a 84 venture at the end of last year. I've been checking out the site here and getting as much tech info as i can. Seems to me that the bike i got has been taken care of and updated well. I to would enjoy a ride with fellow venture riders. I'm from east ohio near Steubenville, 1/2 hr from Wheeling Wv, 45 mins from Pittsburgh Pa. I'll keep my eyes open for rides nearby.
pegscraper Posted March 21, 2009 #22 Posted March 21, 2009 (edited) We did have a good bunch of rides in IN last year. We had one here again this year that was just a bit too cold yet for me to ride that distance. But there will be more. Not much goes on in northern IN though. Pretty boring riding up here. Northern OH is probably not much different. Southern IN and OH are much more fun to ride. I did a covered bridge ride about a year and a half ago in northern OH. Someone else did another one last year in southern OH, during which I was unfortunately sick. I have some ideas for another ride in NE IN sometime. Interesting spots around here are few and far between, but there are a few odd spots where there must have been a crack in the glacier and the landscape didn't get smoothed out. And there are a couple or so roads here which are basically paved over old Indian trails which are a little windy. I know there are some members here from northern OH from whom we don't hear much. We'll just have to get some more rides going around here. BTW, Ms. Highwaypeg, where is New Burlington, OH? My wife also rides a V Star 1100. I think Dragonrider said it best. If you'd like to see some rides in your area, you're welcome to put one together. Just pick a place or two to eat, one with ice cream is a must, lay out a route to ride with maybe some sights to see and a few rest breaks, pick a date and time and do it. dave_wells Posted June 9, 2009 #23 Posted June 9, 2009 Hey Scott, I moved to Ohio 3 years I am in Canal Winchester.
