Well, Sunny Beach! Guess I'll be making a call today. Since I've already bought a new battery I might end up with a new battery for my Roadie. I think I can get the old one back from Interstate. At least, I'll get to ruin this guys Friday if nothing else.

I never did see the warranty in writing since I bought it used. (At a HUGE deal) I called Yammi after I switched the warranty over to verify that it was done but I never got anything as far as paperwork. To tell the truth, just to keep a dealers hands off of my machines, I would rather buy the parts needed and do most repairs myself. Just depends on the situation. For me, it's cheaper and much less hassle in the long run.

Thanks for the pdf. Good ammo for when I call.

Hello Everybody, I have a 2007 Midnight Venture and During the winter I go out to the barn and start my bike up every week or so but during some of them really cold spells we had the bike just clicked when I pressed the starter button. I see now after reading the same ordeal I too might need a new battery. So glad you all pointed out that yes it is covered by the warranty........So Helpful and thanks to all...........Bruce

I have a weak battery and if I run my driving lights without ocassionally putting my 99 on the tender I only get one chance to start it before I get the clicking that tells me I am going to need to jump start the bike. Just not ready to buy a new battery yet.

Running around with a weak battery will overload the charging system. Battery is way cheaper than a Stator...... I would buy one soon.

Bruce, yours may not be covered - give it a try, but don't be too surprised if they say no. The other problem described was clearly catastrophic internal failure of the battery, but yours sounds more like just a weak battery from failure to keep it fully charged. I'd make sure it is properly charged per Yuasa's tech manual (and not with a trickle charger) and perform a load test on it. If it fails the load test, then the shop may agree to replace it.

Unfortunately, these bikes do not have a lot of charging capacity. They will maintain a battery fine for five years or more IF AND ONLY IF you ride it long enough without excess electrical load to fully replace the current expended each time it is started. IMHO, based on my observations for the past 75,000 miles, this takes at least 10 miles WITHOUT running 30 watt passing lights and 20 miles or more WITH the extra Yamaha passing lights but no other added load. And that means running that distance, on average, each and every time you start the bike.

If you were starting the bike regularly over the winter, but not using a charger or riding it long enough to completely recharge the battery (from BOTH the starting losses AND the normal drain from sitting), that that would qualify as what Yamaha calls "improper maintenance and/or storage."

The good news is that your bike is still relatively new, so if you get the battery properly charged NOW and keep it charged, you may still get several more years out of it with some luck. :080402gudl_prv:

Live in a cold state? Did it have time to FREEZE?

Did you remove it and place it in a warm room

over the winter?

Mine in the past never lasted over two years

when I used to leave them in the bike over the

winter with-out a trickle charger on them.

Now that I have switch over the an Odyssey

I do not have that problem anymore.

I even have to keep all my other toy charged

all winter or bring them in (lawn tractors etc.)

Thinking of switching to Odyssey even for

my other toys as well. I never had this problem

when I lived in California.

Just a thought.
