Mariner Fan Posted March 17, 2009 #1 Posted March 17, 2009 I decided to take the bike to work tonight. Weird thing happened. The starter turned the engine over just fine but it would not fire. Choke in, choke out it didn't matter. Finally, I shut off the ignition then turned it back on and tried it. Now it started right up and has started just fine three more times. Should I be concerned? Perhaps, the ignition switch is going bad? The bike is fairly new (07) with only 9,000 miles.
GeorgeS Posted March 17, 2009 #2 Posted March 17, 2009 Order a new Ignition Switch !!! Known Problem ---
friesman Posted March 17, 2009 #3 Posted March 17, 2009 It sounds like youre headed for a new iggy switch under your warranty. Brian
BradT Posted March 17, 2009 #4 Posted March 17, 2009 The ignition switch should be covered under warranty, but the normal problem with the ignition switch is lack of power to everything excpet the radio. So you would not be able to crank the engine over. There is two different size wires on the ignition switch a small wires (appprox 16 gauge) and the 10 gauge wire. Your problem could be the switch but your problem would be opposite to most. Brad
Eck Posted March 17, 2009 #5 Posted March 17, 2009 Here is what I found what was wrong on my bike... You can check this out yourself but you must remove the fuel tank first to get to the connection I am speaking of in this tech article. If you need help, give me a call. Phone number is on my profile page. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=32359
