Blusees Posted March 14, 2009 #1 Posted March 14, 2009 OK, so the bike is cleaned up, and the battery is charging courtesy of a friend down the road. Now, I just have to find my riding gear! Man, I haven't been out here for a LONG time! How is everyone?
Eck Posted March 14, 2009 #2 Posted March 14, 2009 Be careful on that first ride of the year. Many cagers up there arent ready for or even thinking of motorcycles being on the road yet this year.. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!
Yammer Dan Posted March 14, 2009 #3 Posted March 14, 2009 What Eck said. Still a lot of left over winter junk on the road too.
Blusees Posted March 15, 2009 Author #4 Posted March 15, 2009 I was REALLY careful! I was just going to ride over to Kalona and back just to stretch the legs, but then I headed north and went to Iowa City and took the long way home on the old highways. It was GREAT!!!! And yes, when I was passing the casino and highway exit ramps people tried to pull out in front of me twice!!!! Oh well. I was ready for it. Happy and safe riding to EVERYONE!
Squidley Posted March 15, 2009 #6 Posted March 15, 2009 Good to see you back on here Kiddo, and a ride on the bike really clears the head out too Looking forward to seeing you again, hopefully at PIP4
Gambler Posted March 15, 2009 #7 Posted March 15, 2009 Gotta watch those casino people Gambler:15_8_211[1]:
Cougar Posted March 15, 2009 #8 Posted March 15, 2009 Well dear.. you were only 7 miles from me silly.. should have come by and said hi! I am sure will see each other soon this spring and summer! Glad you had a safe ride. AND watch them POT HOLES and SAND after this long winter we have had. Jeff
edger Posted March 16, 2009 #9 Posted March 16, 2009 Sand is a major problem round here, a buddy of mine totalled out his Gold Wing from hitting some left over sand while taking a corner. Was he going too fast? guess anythings possible but none the less, that stuff is dangerous!! Wait till a few good thunderstorms wash things down to get too comfortable.
DKleven Posted March 16, 2009 #10 Posted March 16, 2009 Had lots of rain last week so today was the day!!! took both the venture and R* out for a few miles today........ SWEET!!!!!!!:cool10::cool10::cool10:
Mariner Fan Posted March 16, 2009 #11 Posted March 16, 2009 Did a bit of riding this weekend. Man, that felt good.
RedRider Posted March 16, 2009 #12 Posted March 16, 2009 Went down and visited the folks in Ft. Wayne over the weekend. Took my gear and took my Dad's BMW R1200GS out for a little ride. It was really sweet feeling the wind after a long, brutal winter. The GS is really a nice bike, but not really my style - but it could be. If a GS ever entered the stable, it would be as an addition, not a replacement. Need something comfortable for the bride. Spring Has Sprung!!! 'Bout time. RR
FutureVentures Posted March 16, 2009 #13 Posted March 16, 2009 2nd ride of the year today, but MUCH nicer weather, yeehah! Discovered that my airhorns aren't working! Arggggh, that's my best safety feature. Hmmm, wonder if it and the 12v adapter share something, cause it's not working either....
