bongobobny Posted March 12, 2009 #1 Posted March 12, 2009 Front brake Master Cylinder for a MK1?? There is no guts in it but was honed. I have 3 rebuilt Mk2 masters for myself and this is taking up room! Yours for the asking...
Yammer Dan Posted March 12, 2009 #4 Posted March 12, 2009 Oh NO LATE AGAIN!!! Just kidding Bob I don't need it. Have afew spares here and there. Was just wondering. I have spares how should I keep something like that? Just on shelf and clean when I needed? Would the seals in these things last better if empty and dry? Should I take time now to break them down clean them? Got a lot of parts I need to take better care of. Garage is coming. Warden wanting spare room back.
bongobobny Posted March 12, 2009 Author #5 Posted March 12, 2009 Well, when I asembled all the parts I rebuilt this winter, I used synthetic brake fluid to assemble, but elsewise left dry. Should be no different than the seals setring in the wrapper at the dealers... I completely rebuilt 2 clutch masters, 2 clutch slaves, 3 pair of front MK2 calipers, 2 pair of rear MK2 calipers, 3 rear master cylinders along with the proportioning valves, and 3 MK2 front masters. The only thing left for me to rebuild this year is 2 sets of front shocks, and then tear Goldie apart and update front suspension and complete new hydraulics. The other stuff is for the project '85 whenever it finally gets worked on...
Joopster55 Posted March 12, 2009 #6 Posted March 12, 2009 Bob, when are you gonna start collecting, rebuilding 2nd Gen parts?
Snaggletooth Posted March 12, 2009 #7 Posted March 12, 2009 Well the master should feel at home at least. Another blonde! I was just looking at your album and wanted to ask what kind of windshield you have. I like the width on it.
bongobobny Posted March 13, 2009 Author #8 Posted March 13, 2009 It's a Clearview windshield, the wide one. Joopster, whenever they start making a 2nd Gen worthy of being rebuilt, I will start saving their parts...:stirthepot:
BradT Posted March 13, 2009 #9 Posted March 13, 2009 Joopster, whenever they start making a 2nd Gen worthy of being rebuilt, I will start saving their parts... Joopie he is actually cleaning the space out now, so that he has some room for those G2 parts. Problem is that he will charge for the G2 parts as he knows he can't get anything for the first gen parts. Brad
