bongobobny Posted March 12, 2009 #1 Posted March 12, 2009 Jusy thought you (and others) would like to see how that clutch slave cylinder that you donated for the project bike came out. Cleaned it up and honed the bore and ran a tap thru the threads. Polished the piston and buffed out the housing a tad. Reassembled and Viola...

BradT Posted March 13, 2009 #3 Posted March 13, 2009 Hey Bob, when can I send mine to ya! That thing looks too purty to tuck clear back in that motor where it'll never be seen! Great job! Dan Dan don't you mean after the first hour the oil leak will make it as dirty as it was before cleaning. ? Brad
Dano Posted March 13, 2009 #4 Posted March 13, 2009 That's what I was thinking, but knowing Bob from here, I bet the engine case is polished back in there, too!

5bikes Posted March 14, 2009 #6 Posted March 14, 2009 I had an oil leak in the cavity where the slave cylinder sits. I replaced 2 seals on the gear shifter arm and the clutch push rod. Also the o-ring on the neutral (& 1-5 gear) electrical contact switch. I did not do the slave cylinder when I did second gear. Boy was I surprised how bad it was. I only have 22k miles (but 25 years). I've previously flushed the clutch fluid 3 times in 5k miles. It was dirty again. The clutch slave cylinder was filled with sludge, and the aluminum was corroding inside. There are 2 seals I bought from Yamaha ($15). I carefully cleaned everything and sanded the ID. Getting the inner seal on was the hardest parts, very tight fit. Greased everything first. I reflushed for the 4th time. Easiest flushing I've ever done. Only put 50 miles on it. Hoping for no leaks. If in doubt do it.
