A stealer is a stealer is a stealer...

Stopped by Honda of Jax today to buy a tube of moly 60 paste. They had only one left and it was resealed sloppily with tape, the cap covering the tube was askew and there was grease marks on the tube. I asked if they had any more in the back as I know this is a standard ploy to only display something they want to get rid of before they put out the good stuff. They said no. One of the mechanics came over and said that sometimes they might run out of their stock in the rear and might open up a tube and take a "dab" from it then reseal it. Told them that i wasnt too comfy paying full retail (15.99) for an open and obviously used package. They just shrugged their sholders and I walked out. Now im pretty sure that there was nothing wrong with the grease itself, but I sure didnt like the way the dealers retail staff handles their product and customers. Sorry guys, but im no idiot.

I used the part number provided by BigBoyinMS and searched the Internet and came up with a low price of $6.85 HERE, but the shipping charges for one part would be a deal breaker!!!!

Print the page and take it to your local Honda CAR dealership to see if they will match the price. My local Honda CAR dealership parts counter will come close to or will match prices I bring in......

BTW 3 Oz of Moly60 is a LIFETIME supply!!!!! Buy a tube and give some to the members of your local bike clubs.

Sheesh, shipping was over 10.00 bucks! Never even thought about a local car dealer. Mine has 10 tubes in stock for 10.00 each. Thanks guys for the input.

Hey Jeff,

First off I wanted to say "Bravo" to you for not letting them push you around! I HATE it when a Stealer tries to rip me off!

Second, I wanted to ask a question, Can this lube be used on say, a wheel bearing or other high friction area? Was just wondering.

Indeed it can, The moly will imbed into the surface of the medal and it acts a lubricant much like graphite only much better because it attaches it self to the medal. Moly powder is also being offered by suppliers of ammo reloading supplies for treating bullets using it as a supper lubricant.

There are others, but this is the best value for the container size, unless you need 55 gallons or more...

You should use 60% moly or better, the stuff you see in the auto parts stores is about 3-5%.

There are also some aerosols that contain Moly, but I dont know the percentage.

a good article on spline lubes is HERE

I would've done the same thing. And have far to many times. Is it getting hard to find good customer service these days. Or is it just me? These days it's though to find someone behind the counter at a parts store who knows what their doing. Or at Menard's, Walmart, etc.. I can't find most of the things I need around town anymore. It seem like all these big superstores put a lot of places out of business and won't offer the same goods or services.

They get low prices by hiring cheap labor. I make more on side jobs from their "information" than I do home inspections!

A rule in the trades is: Those who can, do. Those who can't, work at Menards!

Not meant to imply anything against those here who may work in the "big box" retailers, just an opinion!
