Tire plug repair kits. Witch is better?

I have read many post on tire plugs. some use the stop & go rubber plugs & some use the cord type with glue. Witch one is better?

One of the post had that the rubber plugs leak air.

I want to buy a kit for peace of mind that I can get home from out in no mans land.

And do the Co2 cartridge's work? Have read some Co2 cans are empty& you lose a lot of air trying to use them.

Eather a Co2 or Mini Compressor or Engine air pump. Witch would be the better choise?

The stop & go kit looks like the easy way to go? No tire removel.

I just want to put a kit together to carry incase it happens, so I can get home With out truble & not be at the mercy of some gowger to empty my walet out in the middle of no ware.

I carry the string "cat-turd" style plugs and a small air compressor marketed by slime. It also has a LED light in it.

 

I don't believe the CO2 cartridges would have enough air in them to inflate a full sized tire unless you carried half a dozen or more. Plus, if the leak didn't seal, you'd still be sitting with a flat tire and half a dozen empty CO2 cartridges.

I purchased a cruztools Tirepro Universal Tire Repair Kit a couple of years ago...

have not used it yet (knock on wood).

This kit has all the patches, cat turd cord, rubber glue etc and includes a time-proven "Engineers" pump for inflation.

Its based on a two way check valve. Remove one of the sparkplugs and install the check valve. During the downward movement of the piston, the valve opens to let cool, external air into the chamber. Conversely, when the piston moves back up, the valve closes pushing air down the hose to the tire. Compression of the cylinder is greatly rediced by presence of the valve, thereby greatly reducing the draw of fuel and exhaust fumes that would otherwise be pumped into the tire. Adapters are included to fit most thred diameters. Three and four cylinder motors should be able to run (Royal Stars) while pumping air. Two cylinder motors would simply use the starter to turn the motor and pump air.

 

This kit is a last resort for me.

 

I have a AAA RV membership which includes towing your bike to a repair shop.

My Patch kit I keep it in the bottom of the bags oposit of the factory tool kit.

Now this brings me to a nother ?.

I read a post some ware on hear that the cigarette lighter plug on a venture is for smakk acc. only. It won't run a pump? is this true?

I switched the 5 amp fuse for a 10 amp.

This is the one I have, the plugs are mushroom shaped and spread out on the inside of the tire. The pump has plug for direct connection to the battery like a battery tender plug. The pump case is stainless steel and very sturdy, this is one you only have to buy once. The fuses for the DC outlets won't last long when running a pump. I carry the kit mainly on the bike but also put it in the car for trips. It is a little expensive but more than worth it when it's needed.

Being new to this I hadn't thought about patches and pumps. If my tour Classic has a cigarette plug I cannot find it, but when I get an electrical pump, I'll be putting alligator clips on it to hook directly to the battery then I won't have to worry about fuses, except the on in the pump.

That little pump I have...see above came with the cigarette lighter plug, a wire with some ring terminals on it...and a wire with a plug simulair to what you would use on a battery tender...

I was not sure what the ACC cig plug was fused at...so I did not take chances.
