Yammer Dan Posted March 7, 2009 #1 Posted March 7, 2009 When my bikes went over it killed the battery on "UGLY" What are the chances of recharging it after it was on its side for a few days???
utadventure Posted March 7, 2009 #2 Posted March 7, 2009 For the cost of distilled water and time on a charger, IMHO it worth a try. Worst case scenario, you have to buy a new battery and you've lost a couple of bucks and a few hours. I say, go for it!!
Squeeze Posted March 7, 2009 #3 Posted March 7, 2009 If you don't miss any Acid, they probably will work just fine. If the Battery has lost Fluid, forget about it. Replacing the Electrolyte with Acid or destilled Water won't help anything.

If it was dry I wouldn't waste my time as even if it did charge up you would have a false sence of security. Dont need a bike battery puking while your 300 miles from home
Yammer Dan Posted March 7, 2009 Author #5 Posted March 7, 2009 Here is the kicker!! "Ugly and the "Parts Bike" went "Ugly" came up dead with radio catching most of the acid. Put "Parts Bike" back on its feet and it fired right up. Lil'Red had dead batt. already but didn't suffer much. "Ugly" was on top and suffered the most. Going to try recharging. Probally waste of time but it didn't loose a lot of acid went down on left side vent is on right. I got a unicycle:confused24: Last time I tried it it only cost me two days work:whistling: 70+ and the only bike that runs has frame problems!!
saddlebum Posted March 7, 2009 #6 Posted March 7, 2009 If it didn't loose any fluid laying on its side it wont hurt anything just charge it if it fails to charge throw an aspirin ( pure aspirin not tylonal or advil etc.) in each cell and continue to charge . If it lost fluid just adding distilled water is not a good enough you have to add electrolyte (acid) Its not the same as when you loose fluid under normal use because evaporation only depletes the water not the acid were spillage depletes both.If
Yammer Dan Posted March 8, 2009 Author #7 Posted March 8, 2009 I charged it a while and "Ugly" kicked right over. SWEET MUSIC. Now to get busy patching that plastic. I knew I couldn't ride a complete bike for long without something being busted on it!!

You really need to develop a more positve attitude or somthing my friend:thumbsup: According to my daughters if you maintain a negitive attitude negitive things happen
Yammer Dan Posted March 8, 2009 Author #9 Posted March 8, 2009 They could be right. Last couple years have sucked. Getting to expect it.
Yammer Dan Posted March 8, 2009 Author #10 Posted March 8, 2009 Went out this morning and tried it. Fired right up!! Sitting there rumbling and saying "Get to Work. Fix Me. We Need to ride" Steering rack to put in Buick. Got to work tomorrow. But it won't take long now!!If I can just get time off.
