Scoots Posted July 30, 2007 #1 Posted July 30, 2007 of a stator assembly for an '84 VR? Mine went bad and the dealer here wants $340.00 for a new assy from Yamaha. I'm thinking it may be a little high but am not sure. Any ideas? Thanks!
Wizard765 Posted July 30, 2007 #2 Posted July 30, 2007 You can get them new and newly rebuilt for less than that on eBay. You could also get yours rebuilt for less than that as well.

Condor Posted July 30, 2007 #5 Posted July 30, 2007 Check with Rick at http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/ I think he has heavy duty rebuilts for around $140....
Scooter Posted July 31, 2007 #6 Posted July 31, 2007 I got mine at Dennis Kirk, I think it was about $130.
Squidley Posted July 31, 2007 #8 Posted July 31, 2007 Whatever you do DONT buy anything from Electrosport in California. I have had nothing but problems with their products and customer service.
BOO Posted July 31, 2007 #9 Posted July 31, 2007 Brad, I know you had some kind of problem with the stator you bought from them and I don't know all details but I have bought from these folks for years and they have been good to me and make a good heavy duty product. One of the other people, JC Whitney or Dennis Kirk or one of those actually use the stator from these guys. My nephew bought one from someone else and it was made of lighter materials then the Electrosport. It's like everything else, tires, batteries, oil, everyone has an opinion. I would be interested in what happen with the stator you were having built though. Jerry Whatever you do DONT buy anything from Electrosport in California. I have had nothing but problems with their products and customer service.
Yammer Dan Posted July 31, 2007 #10 Posted July 31, 2007 Check with Rick at http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/ I think he has heavy duty rebuilts for around $140.... I would go with Rick. Can't beat it for the heavy duty one and Rick knows his Ventures.

I would be interested in what happen with the stator you were having built though. Jerry I can appreciate that you had good luck with them Jerry. I, on the other hand, had a disaster with them. My stator wasn't installed right in the side cover when it was returned and I had to redo it. They didn't ship the regulator with the rest of the parts and then it was haphazardly tossed in a bubble envelope and sent to me. It arrived in non working condition and then the one that was sent to replace it died in less than 90 days and started to fry my wiring. I had called them on several different occasions and have never had a responce back. Dray commented to me in a phone conversation that they didn't do right by the Delphi forum on the 1100 Vstars. Just way too many coincidences of bad workmanship and lousy customer relations for me not to warn folks. This is absolutely my opinion and I dont expect folks to take my word for anything. They will have to see what works best for themselves. ....Thanks for the rant, I needed that
