jburrell Posted February 26, 2009 #1 Posted February 26, 2009 This grizzly was hit by a Harley on Lolo Pass. This is the pass between Lolo , MT and Kooskia , ID . .Look at the claws on that sucker! the biker made it thru three days in the hospital! The hog's a wreck! lesson learned : Don't go Bear Hunting with a Harley, they don't last but one bear !!!!!!!!!!
Cerviperus Posted February 26, 2009 #2 Posted February 26, 2009 Scary. Not only the size of the claws, but simply the idea of running into something of that size. Glad to hear the rider came out alright.
KiteSquid Posted February 26, 2009 #3 Posted February 26, 2009 I could not find a news article for the photos above but I did find THIS article at the Calgary Sun's website. There are no photos at the website and the location is different. jburrell, what is your reference? Can you provide a URL? I find those photos at several forums and they say either a bike or a truck killed the bear, but I am skeptical.
MidlifeVenture Posted February 26, 2009 #4 Posted February 26, 2009 Looks like pictures of this one hit by a truck. http://www.sport-touring.net/forums/index.php?topic=35035.0
greg_in_london Posted February 26, 2009 #5 Posted February 26, 2009 Amazing - if a bear can't get a manicure, it will be too slow to get out of the way of moving vehicles..
jburrell Posted February 26, 2009 Author #6 Posted February 26, 2009 I can't verify this happened by bkie or truck as I recieved the photos in an email from another biker. either way it's a big bear and proves Road Hazards come in many sizes so 'BEWARE" pun intended. ' jb
pegscraper Posted February 26, 2009 #7 Posted February 26, 2009 Wow. I'd sure like to actually touch a real bear. Not a living one though.
BigBoyinMS Posted February 26, 2009 #8 Posted February 26, 2009 I remember those photos from a few years ago. A log truck driver was hauling a load and it felt like he hit a bump in the road. Then his truck started running hot so he headed back to town and that's when he saw that he had hit the bear and damaged his radiator.
AmnChode Posted February 27, 2009 #10 Posted February 27, 2009 Bike, Semi....hmmm big difference between them. Usually why I take stories like these with a grain of salt unless they have pictures of the vehicle at the scene...
Kregerdoodle Posted February 27, 2009 #11 Posted February 27, 2009 I`ll ask my Sister if she has heard about this, she lives close..... I`ll let ya know
