star4772 Posted February 26, 2009 #1 Posted February 26, 2009 Well I did it going to lease on to Transport America with new Semi. No jobs around here in Michigan so OTR I go. I suppose I will at least have a job for now. What do you all think of the new Truck? Joe
skydoc_17 Posted February 26, 2009 #2 Posted February 26, 2009 Hey Joe, Other that the fact that your new truck color clashes with your RSV, It looks like a SWEEEET RIDE! Both Jean and I are very excited to hear about your new job! I know that being out on the road is not the best for your family but it has to be better than sitting around the house with no income! We wish you "Safe Journeys" on your new job! Does this mean that you will be keeping your scoot? Earl and Jean
93 venture Posted February 26, 2009 #3 Posted February 26, 2009 Well I did it going to lease on to Transport America with new Semi. No jobs around here in Michigan so OTR I go. I suppose I will at least have a job for now. What do you all think of the new Truck? Joe Good luck with the new job! If you need any help with the truck i work for Freightliner dealer in South bend,IN. Try to get as much warranty as you can, The EPA 07 trucks have been having some problems with the new regen exhaust systems.
BuddyRich Posted February 26, 2009 #4 Posted February 26, 2009 Nice rig. Now your gonna need a laptop with wifi to keep up. But try not to use the laptop too much at 70 out in the middle of nowhere Montana. Good luck
dr_bar Posted February 26, 2009 #5 Posted February 26, 2009 With a couple of sweet mods, that sleeper could be turned into a toy hauler... But I like it as it sits as well, nice rig...
Kregerdoodle Posted February 26, 2009 #7 Posted February 26, 2009 Congrats!! May not be what you want to do, being away from Family would be tough, but hopefully it will be short term and get you through the bad times.. Be safe..
davecb Posted February 26, 2009 #8 Posted February 26, 2009 Yup, The bestest color. If your ever in Huntsville, AL, stop by. DaveCB
Squidley Posted February 26, 2009 #9 Posted February 26, 2009 Joe, Glad to see that you got something rolling, nice looking Freightliner Stop in and visit us when you can...be safe out there.
Sylvester Posted February 26, 2009 #10 Posted February 26, 2009 Congratulations on having a job. Nice looking tractor! Last one I drove over the road was a Diamond T, now that ought to date me. It was a nice rig for the times.
eazyduzzit Posted February 26, 2009 #11 Posted February 26, 2009 What do you all think of the new Truck? Well, being as I work for a Kenworth dealer here in Knoxville, I'm not crazy about Freightliners, but in these economic times you can't be too picky. Truth is I sell a lot of Freightliner parts too. My Dad was an OTR truck driver until he died in '99. It's a tough job, but he raised 3 boys and our little sister driving trucks. He had a Diamond T back in the day. He also had a couple of KWs, but his favorite was a 379 Peterbilt.
Marcarl Posted February 26, 2009 #12 Posted February 26, 2009 Sweet ride,,now what do you do with that,, isn't there supposed to be something tied on the back so you can fill it up?????? God Bless, I hear it's not all that busy on the road either and quite competitive.
cecdoo Posted February 26, 2009 #13 Posted February 26, 2009 Truck looks pretty sweet, glad to hear you found a job. Craig

1sttenor Posted February 26, 2009 #15 Posted February 26, 2009 Glad you got a job. At least getting home will be really special for you and your family.
Carbon_One Posted February 26, 2009 #16 Posted February 26, 2009 Glad you got a job now and as others say keep that shiny side up and the rubber down. Now that you'll be a highway man I suppose we'll not see you too much but when our paths do cross it'll be sure good to see you. Who knows I might just pass you by tripping on the trike. Give me a toot if I do. Larry
ken Posted February 26, 2009 #17 Posted February 26, 2009 I feel your pain about jobs in Michigan!! I drive part time to pay for my toys. I normally deliver to Detroit and Canada. For the past five yrs I've been driving about 6 days a month. Since the economy took a nose dive things have slowed up. Only been in a truck once since October. This makes it tuff to save for that new RSV I want. GLAD YOU FOUND SOMETHING THO, I'M SURE YOU FEEL A LITTLE LESS STRESSED NOW!
mini-muffin Posted February 26, 2009 #18 Posted February 26, 2009 Got to do what you got to do. I'm sure it's gonna be tough, but you'll all get in a routine I'm sure. And a job is a job. Good luck. Margaret
dray Posted February 26, 2009 #19 Posted February 26, 2009 not a bad lookin Freightshaker its good to here you at least found some work to keep the hounds at bay good luck Joe Dray
Leadwolf56 Posted February 26, 2009 #20 Posted February 26, 2009 Hey Joe, Good to see you got something going. It'll be better than sitting home. Good luck and be safe out there. My son just got laid off from Roadway. He's looking hard but not much around here either. His wedding is this weekend, not a good way to start off.
Ozark Posted February 26, 2009 #21 Posted February 26, 2009 Good luck in your new job. My Dad and brother were both OTR drivers their whole careers and that is all my brother-in-law wants to do. Hope it works well for you. As someone said, you have to do what you have to do. Providing for the family is not an option, is it?
Guest Saddletramp Posted February 26, 2009 #22 Posted February 26, 2009 God bless you on your new venture in life. I drove for 25 yrs. before I decided to start watching inmates. Miss a lot of different things about the open road. With todays financial crisis it takes a lot of courage to embark on a journey such as this. Good luck and watch out for the fools on the highway.
Redneck Posted February 27, 2009 #23 Posted February 27, 2009 You should have got a petercar if you going to go broke you might as well do it in style. Good luck with the new adventure.
mraf Posted February 27, 2009 #24 Posted February 27, 2009 Big wheels rolling. Good luck with the new job. My father-in-law drove truck until the cigs stopped him. He drove so much he couldn't park a car!:rotfl:Keep on trucking.
Danimal Posted February 27, 2009 #25 Posted February 27, 2009 Hey man thats a pretty blue. I'd call it yamaha blue. It's tough to go out on the road again but nothings forever. Who knows in six months things could happen that we wouldn't even imagine now. The important thing is your doing what it takes to live and get by. I remember the 70+ hour work weeks my old man put in to take care of his family and yours will too. Those are things they learn by seeing you do it. You'll have the same respect from them that I have for my pops. If you get up here give a shout first ones on me!! Danimal
