GeorgeS Posted February 24, 2009 #1 Posted February 24, 2009 It just occured to me to ask, do we have any members here who served in U.S. Navy VP ( Patrol plane ) Squadrens ?? P5-M, P2-V, or P3 Orion Squadrens. ?? Just wondering--- Anybody serve at the Adak, Alaska Naval Station.
Squidley Posted February 24, 2009 #2 Posted February 24, 2009 I wasn't VP, but worked right next to a VP sqadron at Selfridge Air national guard base in Mt. Clemens MI. P3 Orions in Michigan. We also worked with VP's as I was in an anti submarine helo sqadron in Mayport Fl. Played wargames and seek and destroy with the P3 bunch
KiteSquid Posted February 24, 2009 #3 Posted February 24, 2009 I was not a "Wingnut", but a "Tweaker" carring "Twidget" Chief Firecontrolman onboard a Fast Frigate and three tours of duty on Guided Missile Cruisers. I salute you!
Albino Rhino Posted March 2, 2009 #4 Posted March 2, 2009 VP-26, Brunswick, ME, 77-79; NRL FLT SUP DET, Pax River, MD, 79-82; VP-30, Jax, FL, 82-89. This was after I got smart enough to stop being a fleet sailor!
Guest Oldsalt Posted March 2, 2009 #5 Posted March 2, 2009 VP-671 out of NAS Atlanta 1962-63. That was as a White Hat. Then went to Pensacola, got my wings and enjoyed another 24 years until I grew up and got a real job. Best 24 years of my life. oldsalt

GeorgeS Posted March 3, 2009 Author #7 Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) Got a few responce's --- Good to know there are still a few of us old salts, flying around. I know, there are a few black shoes here also !! If anybody is interested, the Orions are being replaced with a derrivitive of the Boeing 737 aircraft. The are in production at this time. I was with VP-48 out of NAS North Island, and Sangly Pt. P.I. Also flew with VP-9 and VP-19 out of Adak, and Shemya. 62 to 67. Edited March 3, 2009 by GeorgeS
