starriders777 Posted February 21, 2009 #1 Posted February 21, 2009 Who many of ya'll use the heat sheilds when you swaped over to RK? I'm ready to put mine on and was thinking of how they look w/o them.
SilvrT Posted February 21, 2009 #2 Posted February 21, 2009 I didn't use the shields mostly because taking them off the stock mufflers basically destroys the looks of them and if you ever wanted to sell them or re-use them, well, I just didn't think it was a good idea. I bought a set of VTwin chrome clamps and they look just fine.
Silver Bullet Posted February 21, 2009 #4 Posted February 21, 2009 Iwent ahead and put them on my R_K,s and they look great...but it will distroye the looks of the stock muffs. but after useing the R-k,s I will never go back to the old muffs . they really sound good.

1sttenor Posted February 21, 2009 #6 Posted February 21, 2009 I just used them as is. Look good to me.
Kregerdoodle Posted February 22, 2009 #7 Posted February 22, 2009 I was going to do that , but didn`t want to trash my stock pipes.... I have the wide clamps and it looks great..
birin Posted February 22, 2009 #8 Posted February 22, 2009 Where is the best place to buy the clamps? Are they available from any Harley dealer?
Kregerdoodle Posted February 22, 2009 #9 Posted February 22, 2009 Use the VTwin Clamps.... less $$$ and better Qualit then the Hardly dealer....
Squidley Posted February 22, 2009 #10 Posted February 22, 2009 Where is the best place to buy the clamps? Are they available from any Harley dealer? ChoppersCycle.com is where I buy mine at, I doubt the Harley dealer will have them. http://www.chopperscycle.com/page/VTS/PROD/42-264/24032
2WHEELSFORME Posted February 22, 2009 #11 Posted February 22, 2009 I used the stock covers. The clamps don't look as good to me and they cost more than a set of used stock muff. Can buy used ones if ever needing to go back and I don't have to store the old pipes.
Squidley Posted February 22, 2009 #12 Posted February 22, 2009 I dont know that the clamps don't look good, of course this is just my opinion. Many folks that just look at the G2 and the R/K mufflers for the 1st time wouldn't be able to tell that they aren't factory.
