indydog Posted February 21, 2009 #1 Posted February 21, 2009 We had a couple of nice days and I was able to get out for a ride. I had picked up some road crud and so I decided to clean the windshield. That is when I found it very loose. I popped the trim piece and found four very loose screws and one completely out. I could not believe they had grown so loose on 2,000 miles since install. When I installed the windshield, I had tightened the screws as much as possible after hearing the problems one of our members had with his windshield coming off at 60 mph. Just wanted to let anyone with a Clearview Windshield to know they may need to check the windshield. Be Safe
Mariner Fan Posted February 21, 2009 #3 Posted February 21, 2009 BLUE LOCK-TITE >>>>>>>Not RED... Cougar, Did you put Lock-Tite on the windshield bolts?
Cougar Posted February 21, 2009 #4 Posted February 21, 2009 The first time I did. I have had the front of that bike apart I don't know how many times now. and I did notice that they were kind of loose. So after the first time. they just kind of got that coating around them and have been fine ever since. Pobably I will do it again next time. Jeff
Mariner Fan Posted February 21, 2009 #5 Posted February 21, 2009 I checked mine the last time I was into the fairing. The bolts were tight, but it couldn't hurt to put a little lock tite on them to be safe.
