Need a little help? On my 84 when i get up to around 60mph i get a vibration thought at first might be the rear tire but after installing a new one, there was no change. The vibration is not bad but its really anoying to the point where i will back off the throttle till it stops. bike has 39,000 miles on it. could the problem be the steering head. Has any one encountered this.:240:

When you had the rear tire replaced, did you have the pumpkin removed along with the driveshaft and grease all the splines? If you did not do this, you need to. It could be a transmitted engine vibration such as out of sync carbs, running on three cylinders, etc.

How does the bike run? Have you checked to see if you may have a dead cylinder? You can do this by starting the bike from being cold and let it run for about 5 to 10 seconds and cut it off and feel the temps on the header pipes. Obviously, a cool one will be a dead cylinder.
