GG54172 Posted February 15, 2009 #1 Posted February 15, 2009 Drove down to the St Louis area to pick this bike up. Packed the kids in the car, rented a U-Haul 6x9 trailer, and headed down Friday after work. Stayed in a cheap hotel, purchased the bike, then went to the St Louis zoo for a few hours to let the kids play. Exhausting trip, but I think it was the best Valentine's Day I've ever had. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0776.jpg I bought it from the second owner, who installed: Backrest Handlebar risers Trunk Rack Hopnel Tank Bib Headlight visors Lighted license plate frame Chrome engine mount covers Chrome master cylinder covers Chrome carb covers Chrome front fender rail Celestar Radiator Grille Saddlebag Trim rails Passing lights LED accent lights Kuryakyn ISO Pegs Star Trunk Rack Bag Samson Silver Bullet Fishtail Slip-ons 32,000 miles with brand new Dunlops. I picked it up for $7100. I took it for a ride around the block today. Aside from the 20 degree weather I really enjoyed it! Now all I have to do is wait for the warmer weather Al Gore promised me. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0772.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0775.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0776.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0777.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0778.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_0780.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_1751.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y191/Ggerg1186/Venture/100_1750.jpg

slick97spirit Posted February 16, 2009 #11 Posted February 16, 2009 What I'm curious about is how the previous owner had that and had enough interest in ventures to do all of that to it and he didn't belong here. Nice ride & sounds like you got a great deal.

wm.butler Posted February 16, 2009 #13 Posted February 16, 2009 You have a beauty there Sir. Last summer I did sorta the same thing. I live in southeast Michigan & drove to Virgina to get a bike. It was in a storage unit and went on faith. Sight unseen. Left here on a Friday night got there 7am Sat loaded it drove home arriving Sat night. A true experience but worth getting a 2001 RSV with 12000 miles. Needed a little work but a true find!

Also the most I have ever spent on a set of wheels, two, three, four, or otherwise.

bryan52577 Posted February 16, 2009 #21 Posted February 16, 2009 Well hello fellow Iowan! Great looking ride you got yourself! I just purchased a 2005 silver one from a private individual in New York end of last summer. I know this is the longest winter for me in a long time just waiting to ride again! Hope your winter goes by faster for you! Maybe I will get to see your bike in person? Ride safe, Bryan
Eck Posted February 16, 2009 #22 Posted February 16, 2009 Greg, Have a question on your bike... In the first three photos, it appears the engine fins are diamond cut, but I can not tell for sure if they are or if it is just the photo. In picture 7 they still look diamond cut, but then again, I am not sure if its only the photo/ lighting. If the fins are diamond cut, thats another $400.00 more the previous owner gave you...
VentureProf Posted February 16, 2009 #24 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Congrats from another rider in eastern Iowa. I'll keep my eyes open for you when the weather warms and the rains clean the salt from the roads. Better yet, might be time for an eastern Iowa meet 'n greet - if I can find a weekend without one of my teenagers playing sports! If you want I'll bring my Carbtune and we can check the synch on your carbs. Heck of a deal on that '01, but buy some earplugs - I rode mine with Sampsons for about 2 weeks - couldn't take it anymore :>) Kelly http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v646/kjcole/Bikelights008-1-2.jpg Edited February 16, 2009 by VentureProf
