sarges46 Posted February 11, 2009 #1 Posted February 11, 2009 Not a position I want to be in for sure! Pete Klassen (TessaC2) is a friend of several of us from this site. You will remember him from PIP twice. On sunday he had a stroke and is now in Saskatoon University Hospital. I have spoken to his wife Hazel and she wanted me to let his buds know about this on the site. The news is not all bad. He is alert and talking just fine. He forgets sometimes where he is. His left side is somewhat paralized but as it stands right now the docs predict a good recovery. Hazel suggested that he will work extra hard to get better as he does not want have to give up biking. Our prayers have already been sent to him and his family personally. I would go up to see him this week but our weather is making such a trip impossible. There is talk that if he is required for a long rehab then Hazel will fight to move him to Calgary where there is the best heart and stroke facility around. I will update if you folks wish. Many thanks to his friend Dale who joined the site just to track me and BigBob down to give us the news.
tazmocycle Posted February 11, 2009 #2 Posted February 11, 2009 man! hate to hear this, but hope he has a good recovery. our thoughts and prayers are sent to help them out as they deal with it. hope she can get him to a better place that's proven to have great outcomes. keep us posted on this, don and susan.
SilvrT Posted February 11, 2009 #3 Posted February 11, 2009 Sorry to hear this about Pete. It kindof "brings home" that we shouldn't pass up an opportunity to meet up with those whom we've come to know on this site when that opportunity presents itself. I had that opportunity 2 yrs ago..to meet Pete...but it was just a "little" out of my way en route to Biggar, SK. I regret not taking the time. Glad to hear though that Pete is still with us and I may get that opportunity again. Pete... wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery. -Rick

Red1 Posted February 11, 2009 #15 Posted February 11, 2009 Sarge, I met Pete at the PIP last fall & he was kind enough to share a bottle of some very nice tequila with me. Great guy with an excellent taste in tequila! I hope he has a quick and complete recovery. If you see him, tell him next time I'll bring the bottle.
Iowawegian Posted February 11, 2009 #16 Posted February 11, 2009 Please let him know that he and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.

eagleeye Posted February 11, 2009 #18 Posted February 11, 2009 Hey Sarge, Thanks for letting us know. Please give Pete my best wishes. Met him at PIP couple years ago. Hope to do the same this year. Steve
Black Owl Posted February 11, 2009 #19 Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) The address for Pete is Royal University Hospital 103 Hospital Drive Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W8 1.306.655.1000 Pete is in Room 6313, Bed 4. Must be getting old(er) . Couldn't sweet talk the nurse into giving me any information on his condition.... Will get a floral arrangement off to him today.... Maybe a cactus arrangement in recognition of the name (Tequilla Pete) he earned at the PIP last fall. Edited February 11, 2009 by Black Owl

Black Owl Posted February 11, 2009 #21 Posted February 11, 2009 Just got off the phone with the florist. Order sent for delivery today. Went with the Cactus..... He can take it home and if he ignores it, it will flurish for years. The card will read: Tequilla Pete, Get well soon. Your Venture Rider friends.....

Not that I doubt Pete would mind being there instead of hospital right now. Any idea what the actual number we need to dial from the states???? JoDee and I will keep him and his family in our prayers. God Bless. Mike
sarges46 Posted February 11, 2009 Author #25 Posted February 11, 2009 Just noticed that after you pointed it out Mike. The correct area code for Saskatchewan is 306. Take care.
