friesman Posted February 11, 2009 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2009 It looks like sirius xm is possibly looking at bamkruptcy proceedings so maybe hold off on any new subs or renewals. http://www.reuters.com/article/businessNews/idUSTRE51980920090210?feedType=RSS&feedName=businessNews&rpc=23&sp=true Brian
Mariner Fan Posted February 11, 2009 Share #2 Posted February 11, 2009 That would suck. I really like my XM radio especially when I'm on long trips.

mrc Posted February 11, 2009 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) heard that myself and I have a lifetime sub. Ya think they will give me a refund? I think you will get a lot of static if you try. Edited February 16, 2009 by mrc
timgray Posted February 11, 2009 Share #6 Posted February 11, 2009 Lifetime sub does not mean YOUR lifetime. I have a friend that lost his because his radio died and he went past his 4 MAX radio changes ($50.00 a pop charge per radio change) No refunds, it's never a good idea to get a lifetime sub from any place. I lost out on a "lifetime" subscription to TiVo when my 1st gen tivo died.

Mariner Fan Posted February 11, 2009 Share #8 Posted February 11, 2009 Well, bankruptcy doesn't necessarily mean that the service will end. Hopefully, things will work out.

got2mnytoys Posted February 11, 2009 Share #11 Posted February 11, 2009 If they hold out for 6 more months my lifetime sub. will be the same as it would have cost me to pay monthly and I've already went thru 1 radio and it was 75.00 to connect new radio if I had done the lifetime when I 1st got sirius I would be way ahead
Snarley Bill Posted February 11, 2009 Share #12 Posted February 11, 2009 i've got three sirius radios at $6.99 each per month. they are going to raise them to $8.99 per month unless i buy a long term plan for them. not sure what i'm going to do yet. don't want to do with out them. will probably just do what i'm doing and eat the price increase. Tombo Posted February 11, 2009 Share #13 Posted February 11, 2009 Just because they file for bankruptcy doesn't mean they will go out of business. Echostar, who is carrying a lot of debt from Sirius, may lose some money in a restructuring though.
bongobobny Posted February 11, 2009 Share #14 Posted February 11, 2009 Awwww, man, I just bought a home converter for my Xpress unit from Circuit City last weekend...
hillrider Posted February 11, 2009 Share #15 Posted February 11, 2009 I just got an email saying I needed to re-up my sub (for more money) because they were improving their web experience. I thought that sounded like a lame excuse to get more money out of me. the email makes sense in light of the bankruptcy .
CMIKE Posted February 11, 2009 Share #16 Posted February 11, 2009 I just love my XM...I move the one XM reciever on my bike, in all our cars, in my shop, and use it 24/7 at work. Always got it on. I am a talk radio addict. I usually sign up on a yearly thing and I am good till June. I got an email Sunday that said if I want to continue my online listening, I would have to pay an addtiional $2.99 to continue... What? I paid for a year...included in that yearly subscription was on line listening. I send them a email asking if they were planning on sending a refund for the remianing months of on line listening, if that was gonna be removed for my services. I paid for a year with that feature...Don't seem they could take it away. I have not heard from them yet. I do know one thing...during all that merger with Sirrius...It was really aggrevating to find my favorite channels off line for 6-8 hours at a time. I know they were moving channels around and all but I can get service that good or better on FM. They heard from me on that to. I hope they stay up. I am hooked now. SaltyDawg Posted February 11, 2009 Share #20 Posted February 11, 2009 I wouldn't worry too much, they are just trying to get a piece of that stimulus pie. I'm not giving up my account.
Snarley Bill Posted February 11, 2009 Share #21 Posted February 11, 2009 if i lose my sirius radio, i may contemplate suicide. or something even more drastic. what will i do? if they would get rid of that piece of crap howard stern they could solve all their financial problems. :cool10:
hig4s Posted February 11, 2009 Share #22 Posted February 11, 2009 I have had XM for four years, over the last two the signal strength and quality has declined, and since the merger it seems they do much more talking and promos (but they are not comercials, big diff) then before. I'm about to cancel. If any one wants my radios and mounts they will soon be available cheap.
