Oh yeah, 65 degrees out today and the bike couldn't wait to get out of the garage. Came home from work and got ready and went for a nice ride. Something unusual happened while I was riding. I was enjoying the ride when the bike started talking to me!

She, now I know that, said that she didn't like the name I had given her. She said Defender sounded too masculine, that she was a lady of sorts. She told me that she had overheard a conversation with Bummer about how Squidley's Charcoal/Silver was like wearing a suit but that our Black Cherries were like lingerie. So with that in mind and the fact that my Black Cherry has a Midnight seat on it we've decided to rechristen her "Midnite Cherri" (she insisted on the "i"). So now I know my bike is a lady and will treat her as such but I'm telling you she can run like a B***ch.

What a strange way to start out the year...........but then, those who know me won't be surprised.....:confused24:

I was right along with you my friend, 54 degrees here and Lonna and I went up to Port Huron and had supper. "Dark Matter" lived up to it's name and was chomping at the bit and ready to run! It sang like angel with the new H/D pipes. Lonna got to try out her new Gerbings pants (remember the ones that showed up the day we left for St. Judes) and she was happy too. Life is good and I can put that leather strap down for a few days

Sixty degrees here too. I got out today for the first time since New Year's Day and blew the dust and condensation off of it. Barely over a month, but it feels like it's been ten years. It was fantastic. Put about 40 miles on it. My handling skills have slipped a bit. Even the wife could tell I hadn't been on in a while. I saw a lot of other bikes out today.

I got a ride in yesterday as well. Went home at lunch time, parked the truck and rolled Ol' Red out. Took some effort to get her to "wake up" and run, but finally she came to life. It was windy yesterday afternoon, but felt OH SO GOOD to listen to the old Wing purr contentedly as we renewed our shared love. It was hard to make her turn into the parking lot at work....she was pleading desperately to ride on....but I turned in anyway, got to do my duty. After parking, I caressed her smooth lines and assured her that there would be many more wonderful days together. Patience, my dear....patience.

Glad to see you "northerners" enjoying your ride. In the 70's down here and I cant even ride the bike for at least 6 weeks...............:(

They are not Northerners, and it will be about 6 more weeks before us Northerners get out.

Actually been raining here and the snow has dropped big time and we are starting to see some grass probably in time for another Snow storm.

She hears well.

Folks, it happened the first time I used the Guardian EZ-Zip cover I got for my '06 RSV (black cherry of course). Taking off the cover, I slowly raised the zipper past the license plate and over the trunk. As it moved beyond the passenger backrest the two halves of the cover slid apart exposing that black cherry trunk. I was a teenager again. :8: There was no doubt about it.

Lingere.

As colors go the black cherry is downright sexy.

I rained here so I didn't ride other than a putt around town.

Looking forward to a meet and eat soon Kevin!

Been talking about it Bob, won't be too long. My son's getting married the 28th so it looks like it'll probably be the first week of March. Keep an eye out and I'll get something posted soon.

I beg to differ, you're not much farther north than we are. There's snow on the ground here too but the road was clear.......:stickpoke: :fiddle:

I'll keep my eye out for it Kevin, hope to make also.

Midnite Cherri sounds like one hot lady!:cool10:

I got to watch you all ride by that beautiful weekend from behind my crutches, so 4 more weeks and we'll be ready to rock again!!

BTW, I'll be up in Elkhart on Business the 23rd and 24th this month, not sure of my agenda yet though.

Don't complain about the snow, guys. It beats the ice we have had here for the last couple weeks. It's been bad...still thousands without power. We were of the lucky few who didn't lose power for any length of time. Then we had high winds (60 mph+) for a couple days, which set the line crews back. Today is the first really nice day (no ice, rain, wind) we have had in what seems like forever.

AND I am stuck at work while Don (B2Dad) is out riding. At least he asked if it was ok to go without me. He is sweet about that. I am sure he will make it up to me this weekend!

Midnite Cherri...nice name. Be good to her!

So, I get home from work, and I notice a big grin on Kevin's face, he tells me he feels better.....more relaxed and then I think....hmmmm the bike looks like she's parked differently in the garage.....No way would he go for a ride, the FIRST ride of the year without me...... Yeah right, he finally confessed.Only because he was afraid I'd read about it here first. That's just wrong !!!!:no-no-no:

Glad to hear you are riding. I live in British Columbia Canada and I ride all year. Today I waxed my bike. Just put a tachometer on her the other day and now I know why some people use tachometers. I really did not know anything about them other than they could tell you about were your rpm,s are. ( I had one in an automatic car that I owned a while ago however if it is automatic what is the tach for?) wawwwwww is my shifting smooth, and when I am on some secondary roads I shift into fifth gear instead of 4th save gas. I know that it sounds like I am hijacking this thread however a lot of us ride all year here and in Washington State. I think it must be a great feeling to not have ridden for a long time and get on a bike and go for it. Hope you have a good riding season.

Take care,

Johnny :cool10:

Hey Johnny,

You bet, it's been a long winter and it felt REAL good to get a ride in this time of year.
