Hey I'm new to VentureRider.org.

I'm wondering if anyone has or if you can lower the whole bike or lower the seat.

Leggs are so short I have dropped my bike twice. I've had 6 or 7 other bikes and

never had the problem. The seat height was lower and I could touch the ground

with two feet. Now one foot tip of toes. I have a 1986 Venture Royal. Big help

needed.

Inseam challenged here. On my 83 I picked up a Corbin seat that needed a little work off Ebay and while I had it apart, I shaved about 1 1/2 inches out of the driver seat. I also do not run a lot of air in the rear shock unless I am loaded up. Usually about 25/35 pounds. I do keep the dampener setting on 4 and have not had a problem bottoming out. I run about 10 pounds in the front struts and that works well. If you are running stock front springs, about a half ounce more fluid helps the front shocks from bottoming out.

Of all the things that I have tried, the cut down seat has helped the most and it is a lot more comfortable.

Hey mike,

Not being Vertically Challanged myself, (34 inch inseam) I sometimes forget how "Tall" the First Gen's are. That being said, I was looking for parts to fix my 86'VR and was looking at an Ebay seller called Pinwall Cycle Salvage in Ohio that has a used Corbin First Gen. seat for sale. It was in his store listings not the general Ebay sales. If I remember correctly, it was under $100.00. It sure did look thinner and it might be just the trick to get you closer to the ground. If you have trouble finding it, PM me and I will try to look it up again for you.

Hope this helps,

Earl

I had the same problem, sent my seat down to Rick Butler you can find his ad in our classifieds. He will cut your seat down and narrow it at the neck, it will get you about 1.5" lower. Then get a pair of boots with a thick sole and big heel. Then just practice putting your left foot down at stops and you're good to go. Craig

Get the seat shaved, that'll give you more ground clearence for your legs, I've ordered quite a few parts with Pinwall Cycle Parts and can report that they are a good company to order from. 1st gen's the ONLY way to go mate, I love the 1st gens, so stick with it.
