Freebird Posted April 3, 2009 #26 Posted April 3, 2009 I'm not 100% sure but I think Baron's is the only place that sells them. If it is, then it should have a caliper relocation bracket also.
Nemo Posted April 18, 2009 #27 Posted April 18, 2009 I have a lowering kit that I don't need. It's for the rear of the RSV, and it lowers 1", but I can't tell you what brand it is. I'd sell it for $100. I'm probably too late now, because you've probably already sold it. Sorry, but I just now stumbled upon your thread. Anyway, I am interested. Thanks, Owen. owenjean1@msn.com
highwayrydr Posted April 19, 2009 #28 Posted April 19, 2009 lowering kit for rear only? ill buy if price is reasonable
twowheelsonly Posted April 19, 2009 #29 Posted April 19, 2009 I met a fellow RSV rider who totalled his RSV when the brake caliper came lose and got tangled in the rear wheel spoke locking the tire and causing a serious accident. Normally I would think careful installation would prevent this but with the caliper on the bottom the brake line cable has more slack and could cause the caliper to get tangled, LockTite makes a Blue type which is designed to have a drop or two on a bolt, when the adhesive dries it prevents the bolt from loosening, The bolt can still be removed with normal hand tools, Do not use RED it is more permanent and needs heat to remove bolts.
The Black Pearl Posted May 13, 2009 #30 Posted May 13, 2009 I just picked up a sweeeet 05 rs midnight venture but the man before me lowered the rear with a kit that relocated the caliper and dropped the bike almost 2 inches can I remove these parts and return the bike to stock height without purchasing more parts or is it just removing the added parts and reattaching the stock parts?? Also not sure if he lowered the front I have read on here that u can adjust the front down without parts how can I tell if this was done or how do I return it to stock height? I am 6'6" 34 inseam and need it brought up thanks for any help guys.....ride on
KiteSquid Posted May 13, 2009 #31 Posted May 13, 2009 I just picked up a sweeeet 05 rs midnight venture but the man before me lowered the rear with a kit that relocated the caliper and dropped the bike almost 2 inches can I remove these parts and return the bike to stock height without purchasing more parts or is it just removing the added parts and reattaching the stock parts?? On the rear, they put in "leveling Links" you will have to replace these parts. If you look in the parts manual on page E1 look at part #18 called ARM 1 Yamaha part number 4XY-2217M-00-00 You will have to buy two of them. and maybe the bolts and washers that came on the bike, as the "Leveling Links" come with some that might be longer or shorter..... OR contact the person you bought it from to see if they still have the parts laying around, or ask around the forum to see if anybody has a pair they took off when they installed "Leveling Links" on their bikes. Leveling links are sold HERE so you can see the parts, and download the installation instructions (link at the bottom of that page) so you can bring your bike back to stock. Also not sure if he lowered the front I have read on here that u can adjust the front down without parts how can I tell if this was done or how do I return it to stock height? I am 6'6" 34 inseam and need it brought up thanks for any help guys.....ride on On the front of the bike, check to see if the tops of the fork tubes are level with the top of the triple tree clamp. the tops of the fork tubes are were the Schneider valves are for airing up the forks. There are instructions here on the forum of how to lower the front end so you can reverse the procedure.
