It always gives me a chuckle to hear the older generation complain about the new music of youth. I'm sure Beethoven's Father complained about the awful noise his son was making on that new fangeled piano he was playing on. Missed the point here (I think) It's not about what people listen to it's about forcing other people to listen. Sure I hate Rap "music" but who I'm I to say what should be on your ipod but if try to cram it down my throat you may have a show down

Geils, Steppenwolf, etc. etc. on my car stereos and older people hated it back then too... But I didn't care it was cool... now my Jensen Tri-axles didn't crank like some of these new sound systems but you could hear me coming down the road.. As far as the windshield washer trick... I've had people do that to me on my bike and I don't like it... I think a few have done it on purpose and one guy got a 1/2 a cup of Dunkin Donuts cup of coffee splattered on his windshield that magically flew out of my cup holder.. Payback is a Beeaatch..

shooter3001 Posted February 21, 2009 #33 Posted February 21, 2009 I don't like the loud rap musice either. So what I have started to do, if I'm in my cage or on my bike, I pull up next to them and turn up my volume. I listen to Country Western. Boy do I get some p____ed off looks. Try it sometime.

I don't get my panties in a bunch over it... The girls in the car... I probably would have been checking for any kinda jiggling action... Hey I have all kinds of music (including some rap) on my mp3 player and have been known to play it pretty loud (usually between 25 & 30 on the volume) and probably have irritated a person or 2... Two attractive young women pulled up beside me back in the summer playing rap and the "F" word was used several times in each sentence. I guess if you have anything drummed into your head long enough, it becomes normal, A couple of years ago we had a hearing test done at work and as I was waiting my turn, I got to talking to the audiologist about rap and he stated a good business to be in in the future will be for the hearing impaired. He stated that the most damaging sound to the ear is base, or low frequency sounds. Anybody remember many years ago when the term "deaf and dumb" was used about deaf people? Of course, now we do not associate deafness with IQ as it is not a factor. In the future are we going to again refer to deaf and dumb with self induced deafness? RandyA

This is the exact same thing they said about Elvis swivelling his hips. There were people on tv calling him vulgar and a degenerate. Now he's called the King. In the 60's it was the Beatles and the Rolling Stone's. Churches were getting kids to burn their Beatle albums. You don't have to like Rap music. But even rap musics style is working its influence into Country. If the argument is with the loudness , sure its rude so were loud stereos and Hi Fi player our neighbors complained about. Loud pipes on bikes are rude too but there are plenty of riders that will defend their right to have them. Yes there are some of foul lyrics in rap but all music has its share. Even country now has words in it that twenty years ago you'd never hear. It can be obnoxiuos but it usually only lasts a minute or two. Not something worth injuring a kid over .

But arent we doing the same thing on our bikes? The radios on these things are capable of playing music loud enough to be heard over wind , rain and any other condition we through at it all while at 70 mph. It's not hard to understand that our choice of music will be heard by all around us. Couldn't find the post to repost it but somewhere on this site there is a thread running around about putting base tubes on our bikes. I'm not defending rap. All music is offensive in one way orthe other to someone. Very few peaple actually like all music. just a little food for thought as the devil made me do this. David
