I plan on doing the front steering bearing. About 2 years ago the right front fork would not hold the 7 psi air pressure any longer. It would leak out within a day as I recall. I have not had any air in them since then. I checked the value, then replace itand sprayed soap all around and I could not detect any air leak. There's no oil around the fork seals however I'm not sure exactly how it is routed in the fork. Who's had their forks apart and where else could the air be leaking? I figured it would be worth asking before I got involved. Thanks.

Can I assume that you replaced the Schrader valve with a new one?

You might try replacing it again...7 PSIG is not not a lot of pressure to help seal the valve.

I don't know if Yamaha installed a special Schrader valve in the front forks.... but you might compare the part numbers for them to the ones in the rear shock and the tires to see if it a special design.

Also while you are in the parts list, look for the seals in the forks, this will show you where it could leak.

BTW does your bike have a aftermarket part that connects both forks together to air them up in one shot? there might be a leak in it...

Thanks for the response.

Yea, I replaced the valve with no luck. I did have the balance kit on there. I took it off to determine which one was leaking and it was the right side. I guess when I tear into it I'll see what else I can find. I will see if the valve is like the rear, it should be however as Irecall it was just like any other valve. I thought it was worth asking. Thanks.
