Venturous Randy Posted February 4, 2009 #5 Posted February 4, 2009 Being 58 years old, I have gone thru over 50 winters that I have some recollection. I don't know of any that I have gotten more tired of than this one. This one seems to have gotten off to an early start and seems to have gone on for about six months already and we have a couple of cold months left. All I can say is I really do not understand how you folks from up north deal with this. Being from the mountains of east Tennessee, our winters are not as cold as north of us and our summers are usually not as hot. I remember being stationed in Rantoul Illinois, about 100+ miles south of Chicago in March of 1969 in the USAF and it was bitter cold, kinda like today here. I remember thinking that with it that cold in the winter, at least it should not be that hot in the summer, since I was going to be there through August. Boy, was I wrong, August was miserable. Yama Mama Posted February 4, 2009 #17 Posted February 4, 2009 Hi Celdawn, I am in agreement with you. I am really tired of the snow this winter. Trouble is we could have more all the way into March. I am off school again today because we had an "ALBERTA CLIPPER!" The weather man is calling it a "SNOWBOMB". I wish they would just call it snow and leave it at that. YAMA MAMA

Ndiaz Posted February 5, 2009 #19 Posted February 5, 2009 Bad case of PMS these days -- Parked Motorcycle Syndrome It was close to 60 degrees Sunday. By Tuesday it was 20 degrees overnight, with snow and even some school closings. I'm in central Maryland. Back up to mid 50's by weekend. Seesaw time. We usually have a mild November, but not this time. Had to start the woodburning stove before Thanksgiving. Never done that before. I'm afraid I may run out of firewood this year unless things begin to warm up. Give me global warming any time now...
Badhardtail Posted February 5, 2009 #20 Posted February 5, 2009 Hello everyone, We've got a lot of snow up here in Vermont also. I was off from work the last three days and had to spend my time shoveling the roof of the house and the roof off the mobile home that I own. Plowing driveways and snowblowing walkways I don't mind but the roofs are another story! The house is a large two story Cape with a full front porch that took almost six hours to do, boy it was cold up there. Well mud season will be here in another month and a half so it won't be so bad then. Bring on the warm weather Joshua
scotty Posted February 5, 2009 #21 Posted February 5, 2009 How do we cope with the winter in the north? Well, after I get tired of the long straight highway, I take it off the center stand and enjoy the left hand sweepers for a month or two. I have been considering building a side stand for the right side of the bike. Scotty
