raceman62race Posted February 2, 2009 #26 Posted February 2, 2009 Welcome Highwaypeg! My wife rides her own bike.......Yamaha Virago 1100 and she loves it. She's not a member of this site primarly because she just doesn't care much for computers. When we do long distances, she rides with me. If your ever in the GA area, look us up...we're always looking for someone to ride with
Iowawegian Posted February 2, 2009 #27 Posted February 2, 2009 1100 Virago.....and I can keep up with the hubby just fine!
b2dad Posted February 2, 2009 #28 Posted February 2, 2009 Nice ride you got. I used to ride my own in my younger days...which was sort of difficult because I am so short. But as I grow older, I am enjoying the back seat more and more. I like sitting there and enjoying the scenary and just basically relaxing. My job is often times stressful and riding with Don helps me to relax. If I was riding my own bike, I would have to pay attention too much! LOL! It has been said that I can also fall asleep on the back...take a short nap...anyone else do that? Patti
awsmsrv Posted February 2, 2009 #29 Posted February 2, 2009 My girlfriend Deb rides her pearl white 650 V* where ever we go..... she leads and I follow LOL!!! Same here, only it's my wife. She has the same bike as your girlfriend.
beyeker Posted February 2, 2009 #30 Posted February 2, 2009 My wife rides our Roadstar most of the time, but she also rides our Triumph and the Venture occasionally. We will be going to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway this June, I will ride the Venture and she is taking the Roadstar. She has been riding 16 years and 90000+ miles.
catang5oh Posted February 2, 2009 #31 Posted February 2, 2009 My wife went to MSF course 2.5 years ago and has been riding ever since, said it was the best thing she ever did because it gave her confidence in her riding ability.
Marcy Posted February 3, 2009 #33 Posted February 3, 2009 Haven't been a member of this group all that long, but have ridden a motorcycle for 28 er 9 years. Hello, ladies. I ride a 2000 Venture.
Princess M Posted February 3, 2009 #34 Posted February 3, 2009 I took the course, husband bought me a little Suzuki, I rode it in an empty parking lot a few times, and I rode it around town once. I had him sell it....... I much prefer watching the scenery from the back of his bike and being oblivious to all the other idiots that share the road with us.
ronhenry4 Posted February 3, 2009 #35 Posted February 3, 2009 I think its great that you ride your own bike my best friend Kim took the course and got her licence and then bout her own bike she loves it but i think she likes to ride with me still she just loves the wind in her hair dont matter how it gets there.. Ron
OMG Posted February 3, 2009 #36 Posted February 3, 2009 i agree with yama mama, love to ride my bike in town, but sure do enjoy being on the back of mothers bike on week-end get aways. suidley knows why.
highwaypeg Posted February 4, 2009 Author #37 Posted February 4, 2009 I have ridden on the back of my husband's Harley for a long time, but I guess I want the feel of being a bit more daring and independent. Besides, when he is not able to ride, I can! Although, he usually likes:happy65: to ride behind me. I guess he likes the view. Hehehehehe! Thanks for all the responses, this could get addictive highwaypeg
Dano Posted February 4, 2009 #38 Posted February 4, 2009 You have just come to the realization that you are already addicted! Now you will find yourself planning time to come to Meet & Eats, dragging the husband along so he doesn't get lonely. Then, after awhile, your hubby will be riding past Yamaha dealers gazing longingly thru the window at that Midnite RSV............ Oh, by the way, Maintenance Day at Freebirds in NW Ohio is not to be missed........... P.S. You can check out anytime you want, but you can never leave.........
Guest texasyamahamama Posted February 4, 2009 #39 Posted February 4, 2009 Welcome to VR. I've been out of touch for awhile and just now found the thread. Like Lonestarmedic said I ride a 1989 VR. I'm loving every minute. The time not spent riding is time spent checking out the maps planning where next. Can't hardly wait till spring gets here. I'm planning a trip hopefully for next month down to Big Bend with my son. He rides a 2005 Honda Shadow Spirit 750. Jackie
Guest tessa c2 Posted February 5, 2009 #40 Posted February 5, 2009 Hats off to you girls:thumbsup2: Hey, Tinystar, i remember that day, must admit this is the first time i have seen you on here, but that could have been because i didn't know who you where. Does that make sence? t/c pete
Yama Mama Posted February 5, 2009 #41 Posted February 5, 2009 Hey Tessa, Actually it does make sense, which really makes me afraid. Hehehehehehe. YAMA MAMA:big-grin-emoticon:
Yammer Dan Posted February 5, 2009 #42 Posted February 5, 2009 I didn't think we had that many LADIES riding. How many more???
Leather and Lace Posted February 5, 2009 #43 Posted February 5, 2009 You can count me as a "lady who rides her own". I've been riding about 14 years and my current bike (and hopefully last - I love my bike!) is a Vulcan 800. Sometimes I'll ride behind hubby (Bob Myers) on the Venture, but that's just cause its SO much fun to snuggle!
Kasey Posted February 6, 2009 #44 Posted February 6, 2009 Count me in as well. After a few motorcycle rides as a passenger many years ago I decided I would rather be up front and have control over what was happening. I've enjoyed nearly three decades of trouble-free touring and won't give up riding until I can't get a leg over anymore. It's great to see all the lady riders here. My youngest daughter will take the B.C. Safety Council riders course this year and one son rides so it will be a treat to make it a family affair. Kasey
Yama Mama Posted February 6, 2009 #45 Posted February 6, 2009 I think it is really exciting to hear about all you Lady Riders. Let's keep this post going to see how many other women ride their own bikes. Thanks highwaypeg for starting this thread. Yama Mama:You_Rock_Emoticon:
highwaypeg Posted February 8, 2009 Author #46 Posted February 8, 2009 I hope to get to meet some of you "Biker Babes" in the future. Maybe you can give me some tips on riding, sense I am sort of new at it. I appreciate everyone's comments so much, thank you for making me feel a part of this wonderful group. highwaypeg
MoRiverRat Posted February 8, 2009 #47 Posted February 8, 2009 My Wife rides a 650 V* Custom. She is not very confident yet and she says she loves to ride in her princess seat on the back of the Venture.
pegscraper Posted February 9, 2009 #48 Posted February 9, 2009 So whereabouts is New Burlington, OH? Lori and I are in NE IN. Have you thought about trying to attend Maintenance Day in Oberlin, OH? You might meet some of these biker babes there. As for riding tips, have you seen the Ride Like A Pro video? Lori and I make attempts at these riding exercises every spring. I can't say that either one of us is real great at them. But they will help you a lot.
brscooter Posted February 9, 2009 #49 Posted February 9, 2009 I guess since no one else said anything bad about women drivers, I better not either.
Yama Mama Posted February 9, 2009 #50 Posted February 9, 2009 You got that right! Yama Mama:buttkick:
