az1103 Posted January 29, 2009 #1 Posted January 29, 2009 Question for those of you in wetter climates; Costco is advertising a four applicator pack for a windshield water beader and repellent called Aquapel. Does any one use this? Any good? Safe on the shield?
rwrenn1 Posted January 29, 2009 #2 Posted January 29, 2009 if you are talking for the car than yes it is very good it is like rain-x but lasts twice as long if not longer
az1103 Posted January 29, 2009 Author #3 Posted January 29, 2009 Is it safe to use on the bike? Or will it cause crazing? And how does one know?
86er Posted January 29, 2009 #4 Posted January 29, 2009 I'll be watching this thread since (a) my truck is my bad weather vehicle and doesn't have windshield wipers and (b) my bike has a standard plexi windshield! I have used RainX on the truck and it's OK but wears off fast. I tried another product from O'Reily's that is supposed to last for 6 months, even with washings and the verdict is out on it. The problem with the truck (a 1950 GMC) is that there is not a lot of windflow to the windshield under 50mph!
brewser23 Posted January 29, 2009 #5 Posted January 29, 2009 I personally haven't tried it BUT I wouldn't suggest that you use it on the shield. PPG makes the product and it chemically bonds with the glass. One MSDS sheet I found says it contains naptha and their application sheet states it contains petroleum distillates and also says to avoid painted surfaces when applying.
