What Slip on Mufflers and what years w/o cats

I was informed that OEM HD slipon muffler can be added to my 05 RSTD for a slightly richer growl. Is this in fact the case and can other HD mufflers be used like a HD SE I did a search and wonder if other HD OEM could be used and if aftermakets for the Road King like SE could be used.

 

What year did HD start making cat converts. This mod would be a great alternate to RSTD OEM.

OK....I'm not 100% sure but I THINK Harley starting putting the catalytic converters on their bikes in 2006.

 

Most here who have done this mod went with the Road King mufflers. Stock take-offs can be had cheap if you look around. Any aftermarket or SE models should also work but probably more money. Several here have bought the catalytic converter ones and removed the cats but it's easy enough to find unused ones before the year they were added.

 

You will need to make or buy a simple mounting bracket and a couple of clamps.

I was told 2006 also. Although, I got a pair from a buddy that had a 2006 road king and they didn't have one, so I'm not sure what that actual date is.

I just bought a nib RK SLIPS ON from ebay for a great price. They came off an 04 so I think I'm AOK. Now wherfe does one b uy the brackets
