Guest 05RSMVTEXAN Posted January 28, 2009 #1 Posted January 28, 2009 Me & a buddy are going to meet in Raton, N.M. and travel to Durango, Gunnison, Georgetown, Idaho Springs, Colorado Springs, and then I'm heading home to Wichita Falls, Texas through Pueblo, Amarillo, etc. We have this trip planned to take about 8 days and to take our time. We will be going toward the end of June. Does anyone know of any "must-stop" places we need to eat at? I hear Colorado is lean on Mexican food.
86er Posted January 28, 2009 #2 Posted January 28, 2009 If you are going to be in downtown Denver, (or within 100 miles! Colo Springs is close enough!) you need to go to Las Delicias (sp?) If I remember correctly, it's on 16th just out of downtown, but I haven't been there in about 10-15 years. They buy all their spices in Mexico. (It ain't TexMex; nothing smothered in chile!) Try the Tacos Al Carbon with the Salsa Especial!!! And while you are in New Mexico, you always need to ask which is hotter, the red or the green chile? It will vary from place to place and from day to day.
