GG54172 Posted January 26, 2009 #1 Posted January 26, 2009 I am going to throw this out there. I am not sure if i will get a response. I am going to become a certified MSF instructor. I will be taking the certification course on the weekend of May 15th, 29th, and June 5th. I live in Dubuque, IA but the course will be in Milwaukee, WI. That's a decent drive for my nighthawk 750. (The bike will be fine, but I'd be pretty sore) I am currently looking to purchase a second Gen, but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to rent their bike. If not I have plenty of other options, I could just throw the nighthawk in the back of my truck too. (Not too bad of an idea, then I could bring the TW200 as a spare...) Just throwing an idea out there. I would be negotiable.
mini-muffin Posted January 26, 2009 #2 Posted January 26, 2009 Good luck with the course. Nice to have another MSF instructor in the group. Had a friend who took it not long ago, he's a member on here too. Margaret
Guest tx2sturgis Posted January 26, 2009 #3 Posted January 26, 2009 Im just gonna throw this out there...renting a bike means that the insurance would probably be voided, since most of us insure them for personal and not commercial use. So...good luck with that.
keithert Posted January 26, 2009 #4 Posted January 26, 2009 I'd bring a bike on the truck. In Illinois we used TW's for class. I was trained as an instructor in 2002. I taught the minimum of a class a year for the next 4 seasons to keep my certification. I let it go last year because I didn't have the time. I found that after working a whole week of work that I had no desire to work the weekend teaching too. I'd have stayed on if there was a way to teach shorter periods.

Guest tx2sturgis Posted January 26, 2009 #6 Posted January 26, 2009 Yeah, I was thinking I could purchase my own insurance. I dont think you can purchase insurance for a vehicle that you dont own. I'm not sayin you cant reimburse someone for the wear and tear tho.
SilvrT Posted January 26, 2009 #7 Posted January 26, 2009 Around here, insurance generally covers anyone who has been driving for 10 yrs or more as an additional driver. So, if I wanted to, I could "lend" a person my scoot and if they wanted to pass a few bucks my way (under the table of course)... who'd be the wiser? (just throwing this out there)

My bike, My wife, my truck, my car, or my lawnmower... with your search in finding one............... I understand. To me my motorcycles are a machine, to others it is something more. That's fine. My mother bought me my first gocart around age 8. It was a 2hp asphalt cart with a fiberglass penzoil indy replica body. That day we took the cart to the local catholic church parking lot. Before long there was a line of kids around the parking lot waiting for their turn to ride. We all had fun, and that has been my attitude about machines ever since. I have taught more people how to ride, shoot, drive standard transmissions with my machines than I can even remember. I really enjoy it. Just my perspective, that's all.
