birin Posted January 26, 2009 #1 Posted January 26, 2009 Some previous posts seemed to indicate that only "non catalytic" mufflers from older generation RK's will work on the Venture. I have the chance to buy some 2008 RK pipes and the numbers do NOT have 95 95a 98 or 98a as the last digits. Any reason why the newer RK catalytic mufflers will not work - without any modification (drilling)??? Thanks
Ponch Posted January 26, 2009 #2 Posted January 26, 2009 I've got 08 Road Glide pipes on mine. They work fine, cat converter and all.
Squidley Posted January 26, 2009 #3 Posted January 26, 2009 They will work fine, put them on and ride
Medic_19 Posted July 27, 2010 #4 Posted July 27, 2010 I just purchased a new set of RK slip on's from a 2006 RK. Maybe I am reading too much but most on the site are saying they will not work and need to be drilled out if installing. Yet some say they will work just install them cat and all. I have a 2004 RSV and really would like a beefier sound. Please help! Thanks Medic 19
short-haul Posted July 27, 2010 #5 Posted July 27, 2010 They will work just fine as is and will help with emissions to
Medic_19 Posted July 27, 2010 #6 Posted July 27, 2010 Thanks my friend. What is with all the hype regarding removing the Catalytic converter. Some have even posted that the engine will burn out due to uneven pressures?????? Have you installed a set with the cat in tact? Thanks again for the reply Medic 19
KiteSquid Posted July 31, 2010 #8 Posted July 31, 2010 Why are you guys paying for HD takeoffs? Hang out with some HD riders and you WILL be given a set of muflers. I was given two sets...........
Seaking Posted July 31, 2010 #9 Posted July 31, 2010 qdude said: Are they hard to mount, any fabrication needed? You'll need a special plate found here http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2199&title=yamaha-venture-exhaust-hd-conversion-mounting-plates&cat=7 and some HD couplings. The install is very easy..
