Sylvester Posted August 30, 2009 #51 Posted August 30, 2009 Every one talking about wanting changes done to the RSV. When we test riding the 2009 Harley Ultra touring, we were going over the bike as for gadgets and what knots, one thing the sale guy said was the saddle bags & trunk on the ultra have been the same since 1968. WOW not much done to the body work since 1968. After all that time you figured the Harley fans would want something different:think: But they did get rid of the cross over pipe for the exhaust...finally!!!

Must be why Harley's are sooo "cheap".
Guest scarylarry Posted August 30, 2009 #53 Posted August 30, 2009 Don't go bashing harley's it is the only bike at 30k that radio and other options are extra:rotf:
ediddy Posted August 30, 2009 #54 Posted August 30, 2009 Hey Bobcatplat, How did you find out that the new yamahas were going to be introduced on Sept 8. I haven't been able to get anyone with yamaha to give a date other than it will be Oct or Nov.
Bobcatpat Posted August 30, 2009 #55 Posted August 30, 2009 I have had two separate dealers recently give me that date.
hig4s Posted August 30, 2009 #56 Posted August 30, 2009 He is what a Rep. told me: That with the economy the way it is, no changes this year 2010, and 011 he could see that far ahead, but the real truth will not be known until they unveil in Sept. around the 10th he said all new models and update.. He also so mention that any changes in any motor they have to file papers with Fed.'s on the EPA testing that went over my head since I never heard of this there was none file and that is public info... I find that hard to believe seeing as Federal EPA standards change for motorcycles for 2010, and from what I read the Royal Star carbureted engine does not meet 2010 standards. If that is true, and Yamaha makes no changes there will be no 2010 Royal Star, at least not in the US.. May be a Canadian/European only model and they will keep shipping left over 2009 models to US dealers.

I haven't been able to get anyone with yamaha to give a date other than it will be Oct or Nov. Two dealers I went to last week told me the same date also. The owner of one dealership told me he has never seen Yamaha so tight lipped about any motorcycle like they are about the Venture this year.
Wanderer Posted August 30, 2009 #58 Posted August 30, 2009 As of now the only 2010 model Star shows is the VMAX .
RandyR Posted August 30, 2009 #59 Posted August 30, 2009 If that is true, and Yamaha makes no changes there will be no 2010 Royal Star, at least not in the US.. May be a Canadian/European only model and they will keep shipping left over 2009 models to US dealers. Thats what happened the last time EPA standards were tightened.

Do I feel they will do something kinda, for one reason dealers here are slashing the venture prices like no other bike.. One more thing I had a 1300 vstar EFI and then this is carb..With only of the starting and letting it warm up, I don't see a lot of difference..I know they have to be sync, but so do EFI...

I bet the CIA can't find out:rotf:
footsie Posted August 31, 2009 #62 Posted August 31, 2009 The reason harley using the same stuff and dose not change the looks is because true harley guys do not want them changed, the 2010 should look almost like the 1950. That is big deal at harley, to modernize depenability and performance without changing the look. I personelly would love to see yamaha put fuel injection on the venture, put gauges where the cassette is and leave everthing else well enough alone. I love the bike, the way it handles, mine is almost as smooth as a goldwing on the road, and very comfortable. Gregg

footsie Posted September 2, 2009 #64 Posted September 2, 2009 I had seen them before and intend to do simular, but I have been looking for something in a little diffierent style of gauge. but that does look good. thanks Gregg
Bobcatpat Posted September 8, 2009 #65 Posted September 8, 2009 The 2010 announcement is supposed to be tomorrow from what I have heard. I hope it is something really good. I would like to see a lower cg, maybe a bit more torque, an ipod connect with no tape player, and hopefully no chirping or otherwise crappy noises from the drivetrain. Maybe even a frame mounted fairing if they could make it look good on the bike.
Mariner Fan Posted September 8, 2009 #66 Posted September 8, 2009 Haha, we go through this conversation every year.
lonestarmedic Posted September 8, 2009 #67 Posted September 8, 2009 I hope for a new platform but really wonder if Yamaha can pull it off in light of the present economy. JB
Guest scarylarry Posted September 8, 2009 #68 Posted September 8, 2009 This my take, Honda GW will be change in 2011 big time they say, I believe that will hold off till then to compete with the GW like they always do.. You might see one or two small changes but nothing large scale though, change of color maybe get rid of the cassette player... Nothing large this year, but then we will see, I will be checking all day to see if they do anything, that I know for sure..
