you ,hit the nail on the head. if a new model is coming soon there is usually alot of buzz well in advance in the magazines. haven't seen a thing on the venture yet. i think they are using the v-max as a test bed for reliability. i figure 2011 at the earliest on the 3rd gen. if yammer is still in the bike business then. the economy is going to affect alot of corporate decisions on future plans. :2133:

I don't think you will hear any early buzz ... Yammi admitted the Existance of the new VMax on June, 4th 2008 on their Website and immediately started their "special Order" Program. Yes there were Rumours on the Net before that Date, but these were just that, Rumours. And a Lot of them Rumours proved wrong or only half of the Truth. Everything they showed before the offical Release was just Study or "Artwork".

Regarding their future Plans ... i don't think the downfall of the Economy will affect their Schedule. The Base is already there, R&D Costs shall be little in regard of what they put into the the VMAX(10 Years of Development). The new Base is created, they WILL make the most out of it.

Besides that, they will have to pull the Trigger, because i seriously doubt that they can sell a 2010 Model RSV unchanged, regarding the more rigid EPA Regulations. They will drop the 2010 Model and bring on the 2011 based on the '09 Max. I bet 5 Bucks on that. That's because i don't think they're willing to give up the upper End of the Long Distance Tourers. A big V2 Motor just wouldn't cut it. And while Honda is creating a new Wing, the Cards can change. I'm in no Doubt that Honda is willing and capable of presenting an outstanding new Wing, but not all Tourers like and prefer the Wing.

Yeah, like those of us over 165cm. Wings are purdy and I'm sure they ride well on the highway, but I can't see having my feet directly below my arse for 600km. Can't feel my feet by the time I leave the parking lot, and can feel nothing but my hips by the time I have to pull over and... you know... evacuate my innards. I understand they're putting a toilet and microwave oven in the next Wing though.

As for the 3rd gen RSV, there's no marketable reason to make one. Yamaha built the V-Max becasue they wanted vindication. The same passion doesn't exist (talking about Yama engineers, not RSV owners) with the RSV. If you don't own one, you're response is usually "that's a Yamaha?" I think a few of you on this thread hit the nail on the head. With new EPA (U.S., Canadian and international) guidelines requiring all combustion engines to produce only butterfly farts for exhaust and only use fuel at the same rate Britney Spears demonstrates talent, if I were a manufacturer I'd probably just wait until the competition spends their money fighting the legal battles to prove that the EPA is smoking crack.

double-check my count, I think that's only 3 tangents... I'm getting better!!

Two Hours ago, i came back from a Ride from a Ride on a '09 VMAX. Even tough this Beast is brand new and i didn't go over 4.5 k, I can tell you, this '09 Engine in a Venture won't disappoint anybody.

I can't get the broad Grin off my Face. And i had a small Ride for 50 km's, which was a big help against PMS anyway.

You LUCKY DOG!! You !!! ( thats an old American Saying ) :cool10:

Ken,

There are lots of cheap RSV out there now. The asking price may not show it but the economic realities prove it. I know three RSV owners that "HAVE" to sell due to lost jobs. I have told two of them that they will have a tough time getting what they think it is worth. One of them called last night and accepted $2000 less than what he could have gotten three or four months ago. It is a buyers market but you need the cash to make it work.

I'm gonna stand in line right behind you.... Did I say that???:mo money:
With that much power, I bet the 5 year unlimited mileage warranty is no more unless they beef up the rest of the bike to take the punishment. :255:

Spare a thought for us poor saps over here, no matter what new model/or when, we won't get it!!:crying::crying: Yamaha don't want to spend the money to make the changes required for Australian regs. and no more RSV's will be coming to us!!!!!!!!!!!!:crying::crying:

I think there will be a new Venture with a de-tuned V max engine and new frame and suspension. The present style is a hit so they may keep something very similar. It would be a wolf in sheep's clothing. If they do that I just may have to buy one. I can already hear the wife hyper ventilating. Oh well, you only live once.

Im waiting for the announcement of the 2010 venture on September 8th. At this point I have been trying to buy the right bike, and have had a hard time. I figure I might as well wait 2 more weeks and see what the 2010 venture brings. Anyone have any insight on the 2010?

With as much as I would be interested in seeing what else they come up with, do hope that they hold on to the current 2nd gen design for a while... I sure like being able to get parts easily (for a reasonable price) and I am not done accessorizing yet...

I chose the Venture over a Valkyrie Interstate for just a few reasons. One being the parts availability... Just my :2cents:

I am ready to buy a new bike by the end of the year. I have decided that I want another frame mounted fairing. So far, the Victory Vision is my choice. The Gold Wing is a proven performer and I have owned 2 in the past. I just plain old like the Vision. I am waiting to see if Yamaha will produce a touring bike that I like. I would really like something like the Vulcan Voyager or the Road Glide with the V-4.

Been thinking of a new bike for the last year. Hope Yama lets something out of the bag by the end of Sept. Right now its a tossup between yam. and the ultra classic. Sometime between Dec. and Feb. I'll really be looking.

I sure hope they do something. The 2ndGens are starting to get boring...zzzz. Maybe someday Yamaha will figure out that pumping product thru the same pipe line for 10 years gets old. Kinda like kicking a dead horse. They did it with the 1stGens and now the 2's. Folks want something new, not technology with whiskers on it. And I bet they wonder why sales fall off to a fraction of what they were in the first 4 years of a run.

Strange looking bike, and I have heard complaints that the bags shape limits the amount of gear they will hold..

For frame mounted have you test rode the BMW K1200LT

I personally almost bought the BMW instead of the RSV. I REALLY liked it, handled great and had a better stereo. But the RSV was a touch more comfortable to me, (wife thought the LT was more comfortable) plus the 5 year warranty, price and dealer network pushed me to the Yamaha.

We test rode a 2009 hot red Ultra Classic today man it was nice very nice only thing I dislike was the vibration at idle, man the handle bars shock bad felt like they were going to come out of my hands but on the open road it was smooth as glass. it was so much smoother than the RSV on the open road, but it was not as roomy as the RSV. seemed a lot smaller than the RSV. But I would not mind having one if I could get used to the engine vibration at idle.

He is what a Rep. told me:

That with the economy the way it is, no changes this year 2010, and 011 he could see that far ahead, but the real truth will not be known until they unveil in Sept. around the 10th he said all new models and update..

He also so mention that any changes in any motor they have to file papers with Fed.'s on the EPA testing that went over my head since I never heard of this there was none file and that is public info...

Calif has its own emmissions testing also which one can find searching. Someone posted a link to the Calif testing documents a couple months ago. Nothing for a new Yamaha. http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/onroad/cert/cert.php go to the bottom of the page and type Yamaha into the search box.

Every one talking about wanting changes done to the RSV. When we test riding the 2009 Harley Ultra touring, we were going over the bike as for gadgets and what knots, one thing the sale guy said was the saddle bags & trunk on the ultra have been the same since 1968. WOW not much done to the body work since 1968. After all that time you figured the Harley fans would want something different:think:
