mrc Posted January 24, 2009 #1 Posted January 24, 2009 (edited) 85 Years Young, And She Is Still Loves Riding. Last summer I was honoured and privileged to take her for one more ride. It absolutely made my day when she asked if she could go for a ride. She said her first time riding was during the war when she was a nurse. Hopefully she will still ride with me again this summer. Sometime you need to take a lesson from someone with wisdom and experience. She taught me you’re never too old to enjoy life. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/album.php?u=6421 Edited February 16, 2009 by mrc
DragonRider Posted January 24, 2009 #2 Posted January 24, 2009 Had a similar experience a few years ago. Our motorcycle ministry was visiting a senior citizen home and we met a gentleman who was 82 years old. When we took them out to see all the bikes, he stated that he had never ridden on a motorcycle. He asked if he could go for a ride, but the facility told him he would have to get permission from his family, so..............We planned another visit a month later, we thought he would have forgotten about the ride, but no, this old guy was sharp, as soon as we arrived and he saw us, he said his son was there and his family said it was ok as long as it was short. He was like a little kid going for his first ride. We have been back a couple of times since and he still talks about riding with us..........we even made him a member of our ministry and presented him with a do-rag and a group patch. I think I need to go back and see how hes is doing.............That really made his day and ours...........hope at 82 if I cant ride somebody will be willing to take an old man out for a ride............
BIG TOM Posted January 24, 2009 #3 Posted January 24, 2009 My mother passed on about three years ago..... she was 89 and in a nursing home..When she was there, I would take my mom out for a ride every now and then. The nurses would freak out..Had more than one talking to by the head nurse..My mom would tell her to mind her own business..When I'd pull up on the bike all the residents would cheer because they knew what was about to happen...they all wanted to ride with me..Wish I was able to take them..After a while the nurses just gave in and started to take pictures of us and post them on their news board...They would call her motorcycle mama and she just loved it..I sure do miss her and those rides...
