craigatcsi Posted January 23, 2009 #1 Posted January 23, 2009 I REALLY don't care for the Vinyl seats / backrests on my 07 Venture. They make me sweat more than Leather did on my previous bikes. Has anyone here had them recovered with Leather? I am thinking about checking with a few upholsterers here in Omaha to see what they would charge. What do you think? craigr
Sylvester Posted January 23, 2009 #2 Posted January 23, 2009 The best thing I have seen for all year comfort is a sheep skin. I purchased a black (dyed) skin in 2004, had enough to cut two pieces for the front and back seats on my RSV. They wrap down the sides of each seat and I put grommets on the edges. I use elastic material under the seats to keep them tight. The elastic needs to be changed annually because they stretch out. They still look great and keep you cool in summer and warm in winter.
dfitzbiz Posted January 23, 2009 #3 Posted January 23, 2009 I use a beaded seat pad. Lets you vent and gives you a butt massage every time you shift your weight. Should be about $20 or less. Picked mine up at Wall Drug a couple of years ago. Be Cool!!
KiteSquid Posted January 23, 2009 #4 Posted January 23, 2009 Ask about the price and durability in the weather of oil tanned leather.
Freebird Posted January 23, 2009 #5 Posted January 23, 2009 My Corbin seat is all leather and I love it. Much cooler than vinyl.
