KickStand Posted January 20, 2009 #1 Posted January 20, 2009 I had a crack in the bottom of my trunk. Now it is a large crack with a chunk missing. I need to fix it or replace it. I was watching one on ebay but it sold for $190 plus shipping and it was the wrong color. Is there a cheaper way to get this fixed? Mine is burgundy (88 VR)
Brake Pad Posted January 20, 2009 #2 Posted January 20, 2009 get the two part apoxy, tape off outside areas, mix small amounts, and pour onto crack, let harden, should dry clear, wet/dry sand paper if you'd like
Rottdoglover Posted January 20, 2009 #3 Posted January 20, 2009 Before offering any suggestions on repair, is the crack/missing piece visible from the outside or strickly in the bottom of trunk?
friesman Posted January 20, 2009 #4 Posted January 20, 2009 My 85 was fixed before I got it , the PO got some fibreglass tape to hold things together, lined the inside of the box with it and then spread a good epoxy over the tape holding the crack together. It seems to have been done quite a while back but it seems to hold very well. Brian
KickStand Posted January 20, 2009 Author #5 Posted January 20, 2009 Yes the hole is visible from the rear. It will need paint. I tried epoxy earlier and it helped but didn't hold and got worse.
woz111 Posted January 20, 2009 #6 Posted January 20, 2009 (edited) Hi, use Plastex, take a look on eBay at item number:- 110323693080 Just copy that number and paste it on the ebay search bar. I used it to completely repaire all the plastics on my Venture, works a treat. Edited January 22, 2009 by woz111
