I removed the floorboards from my 1985 VR and installed the standard footpegs. I will offer them here before ebay/craigslist;

asking $250 . . . will consider trade for black seat in good condition

will consider trade for good Vmax cams

Also have rear bumper and trailer hitch for sale or trade.

Please see this thread for more info;

gary may I ask why you removed them and went back to the pegs. I remember there was a thread before about boards and pegs and I was wondering how good or bad boards were. Personally i feel pegs are a little sportier and i like the Sporty element of my 85. But I'd be interested in your opinion .

I am over 6'2" tall and the floorboards force my ankles into a very uncomfortable angle. The standard footpegs allow me to "hook" my heels and drop my toes for more comfort during long rides. I also did not like the heel-toe shifter . . . My wife loves the passenger floorboards and they are staying on the bike.

That is a very reasonable price. Back when I had my 1st Gen I looked all over for some with a reasonable price and found none. If I still had it I would buy them. The floorboard riding position was one of the many reasons I bought the 99 RSV.

Good luck with the sale, I am surprised that the 1st Geners haven't jumped all over this.

Like he said you can tip your toes down with the pegs. the rsv your feet are out front so no need to tip your toes down. i have scared myself a few time while turning and scrape my toe on the ground :cool17:

Gary ive got a good seat I dont think i want or need a tow hitch. if you make a sale let me know

Tempting, Gary, very tempting!

I'm thinking the main reason they aren't already gone is the slow economy. Either people don't have the cash, or are cutting back on unnecessary purchases. With the unemployment situation escallating, people are more interested in getting out of debt as much as possible in case of a layoff. If they don't get sold by next week get in touch with me and maybe we can do business.

Yep, what Bob said.... I've noticed the sales on Ebay are very slow, and listings for popular items are few and far between also. Even tho it's winter, I've been following Ebay long enough to see that this year is especially quiet.... I have some really nice items that will be listed, but I'd like to get close to max dollar for them to recoupe some of the bucks I've spent.:mo money: So they sit waiting for better times....

BTW, if anyone takes the floorboards I have the matching set of passenger boards in so-so condition available.

I plan on painting my bike gunmetal grey and your seat might work. It looks almost brown in the picture. Are you selling the passenger and rider back rests with it?

thanks gary . i'm 6'1 and i think i'll stay with the pegs fr the same reason you went back. Good luck selling them though.

Was thinking along the same lines but would need to get the pegs and linkage, seen some on E-Bay. Anybody here have some pegs with all the goodies (driver only)?

I don't believe they'll fit a 91. If I remember correctly 83 through 85 and 86 through 93 on floorboards.

Call me when you hit the lotto. I just took a nice set of VentureLine boards off my '91 and thought I'd wait around for better times before putting them on Ebay.:mo money:

If you can find the correct year. Originally Yamaha told me they were the same from 86-93. So lucky me gets a functioning cdi box from an 88 for $53. Get it home and all bike will do is turn over no fire. turns out that 86- 90 is one part # and 91-93 is another so now I have what I was told is a functioning box with no bike to put it in. Maybe I'll run into someone who needs a spair or something like that.

Wait a few months and put it back up on Ebay and make a few bucks.... Next time make sure it's off a 90-93. :)

Gary,

Still got the floorboards???

I'm quite interested...I've been an 1100 Maxim rider for the last 20+ yrs and finally bought a couch (86 Venture). She's a basic Venture so I'm lookin to add a few things. I've always wanted a machine with heel/toe shift & floorboards.

What I am lacking though is Venture knowledge. Will your floorboards fit an 86??? Of course it's a mute point if you've sold them already.

I still have the floorboards and a search of the forum turned up this tidbit;

http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13746

The last entry says my '83 - '85 floorboards can be made to fit your '86.

I do not know the details. Probably has something to do with the clearance of the chin spoiler.
