Thom Posted January 18, 2009 #1 Posted January 18, 2009 Silver has been parked out side with no cover , the wind is very strong here . and i have bike parts in the living room , front porch and in the yard . i have been looking for a home to rent for the last 2 mos. with a some place to work on the bike and store all my junk . all the houses i have found with a garage are 3 or 4 bedroom or someplace i need to carry a gun all the time so today i found the prefect place i think ? it is a 40 X 60 shop with a full bathroom . all i need is a frig , a mic. and throw a bed in a corner . it has a elec. garage door opener , so i can ride the bike in , get off , sit on the couch . now my ? if i bought a date home do you think she will think i am nuts. Thom
FROG MAN Posted January 18, 2009 #2 Posted January 18, 2009 She should be Honored. Not every date gets to see whats in a Man's shop.

Thom Man now that sounds the ticket!!! If I was not married, that is what I would do, you can make the living side real nice, look across the living room and see your bike all nice and dry and out of the weather!! I say go for it, if your date doesn`t like it, then to the curb with her, find you one that " Understands " Good luck !! Kreg
FROG MAN Posted January 18, 2009 #4 Posted January 18, 2009 You might want to make that work bench in the corner a queen size. With fluffy pillows.:innocent:Women like that sort of thing.

Bob Myers Posted January 18, 2009 #6 Posted January 18, 2009 let see do's a bike lift make a good coffee table or a dining room table ? Thom Actually it does. We use mine for a table when we are grilling
painterman67 Posted January 18, 2009 #7 Posted January 18, 2009 Wouldn't they call that a loft in some places of the world. Go for it. The only person who has to live there is you. David
PEIslander Posted January 18, 2009 #8 Posted January 18, 2009 Check out the movie ' World's fastest Indian' . Living in a shop didn't slow that old guy down when it came to women. or bikes either.
Snaggletooth Posted January 18, 2009 #9 Posted January 18, 2009 Not a bad set up! Sounds like living the dream to me. A friend of mine bought a place years ago. A small house, a BIG barn and a load of good farm land. He leases out the land to a couple of farmers and redid the house into a studo/gallery where he does his photography. Now the barn was a work of art. He stripped it down, insulated it and resided it. He modifed the loft into his living space and it was done up nice. The ground floor was his indoor parking and shop. What more could a guy ask for?
Rottdoglover Posted January 18, 2009 #10 Posted January 18, 2009 You're NOT nutz. Just practical. You need a lot less room for living than storing and working on toys. I know 2 guys in the exact same boat. One lives in a converted warehouse, and the other built a 32X50 garage with apartment upstairs. Like previously stated, if the date doesn't approve, that tells you a lot right up front.
stvmaier Posted January 18, 2009 #11 Posted January 18, 2009 YES!!! You ARE nuts................If you Don't get it!!!!
mini-muffin Posted January 18, 2009 #12 Posted January 18, 2009 Thom first you should know better then to start a thread with the words I and Nuts in the same sentence. We knew a guy that had a hangar the front part he built a two story home in and the rest was for his toys. Nice set up, plus the grass runway outside the front door. Margaret
Nighthawk II Posted January 19, 2009 #13 Posted January 19, 2009 Do you remember the TV show Vegas, With Robert Urich? He parked his T-Bird in his living room. He never had a problem with dates...I say go for it.
TATERS Posted January 19, 2009 #14 Posted January 19, 2009 Do you remember the TV show Vegas, With Robert Urich? He parked his T-Bird in his living room. He never had a problem with dates...I say go for it. Sounds like every mans' dream! My husband will be jealous.

mraf Posted January 19, 2009 #16 Posted January 19, 2009 Not nuts. I know a young couple here that built a nice barn. Built a small apartment in the back and lived in it for a few years before saving enough to build their home. If your renting it and the owner won't let you build anything in it you could always buy a camper to live in and park it in there with your toys.
Guest Swifty Posted January 19, 2009 #17 Posted January 19, 2009 ...so i can ride the bike in, get off, sit on the couch. been there, done that. if i bought a date home do you think she will think i am nuts. yup, been there, done that too. Thom
GeorgeS Posted January 19, 2009 #18 Posted January 19, 2009 In Texas, wide open spaces, big garage, no house to take care of, Car, and bikes in the liveing room, plenty of space to stack the beer Case's, plenty of space for a Barbeque, have a few chickens for eggs, jezzzzz , a long work bench, Drill Press, I could go on and on !!! Does it have an old John Deere Tractor by the front door ???
MikeM8560 Posted January 19, 2009 #19 Posted January 19, 2009 sounds Cool, are there any windows? heat AC? hows the rent? it would sure save me gas money going to work also.
