Ole Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 How many of you all have installed leather hand grips on your bikes. I am thinking of putting some on my bike, but am curious to hear back from people who have installed them. Any pics of your grips would be appreciated. I like the looks of the ones on Squidleys bike that is in the classifieds. Ken
Tom Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I have the foam type grip puppies on mine..Have an extra set if you like them..Will cost you a cup of coffee here in Blanco though!
Sylvester Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 They are very nice until they start breaking down from sweat and other environments, then they become just plain nasty.
Squidley Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Let me say 1st off that I HATE the stock grips, biggest POS (yeah I feel that strongly) on the bike. The diameter for me is too small, my hands go numb after 40 miles with the stock ones. The leather ones are a larger diameter, and my hands definitely appreciate that. I dont know about them getting nasty with the weather as I haven't experienced that....but I love mine.
Ole Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 Squidly, where did you buy your leather grips? Were they difficult to install? I wouldn't think they would be hard to install but sometimes it seems like the littlest jobs turn into difficult things. Ken

Ken Ken, Those are actually Yamaha aftermarket grips, I saw a set in Canada when we were the for the international rally last year. I ran across another set at my local dealer, I dont know if they still offer them? If your interested in a set let me know and I'll keep my eyes open for you
beyeker Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I have put the Kuryakyn Iso grips on my 2006 Vulcan 2000LT and my 2002 Victory Touring Cruiser. They did eliminate the vibration, but the larger diameter is hard to get used to, and I have fairly large hands.

Hey Tom, How do you like the foam grips vs. the leather? Cup of coffee sounds like a good idea. Hopefully the weather will cooperate soon and we can do that. Ken

I had a set for less than a year. One day out riding stopped for gas and I noticed a split in the right side. It wasn't long and the left side split also. I tore them off the next stop.
