waterbug Posted January 16, 2009 #2 Posted January 16, 2009 I get a mag called Rider that is very good and they do more metrics than HDs and they cover alot of places and things and bikes. Theres another one I try to find that has alot of touring bikes but they do the HDs also and I think its bagger but not sure. I like to read on all diffrent bikes and places to go.

The two i get are Roadrunner that comes out every 2nd month and does long and short distance articlestravelling in different areas of the world on a lot of different bikes. I understand the give us a discount now, but i think it might be a very new developement. It has great article written by real people and lots of pics for those of us who are too lazy to read much...lol The other is Friction Zone, its more of a monthly newsletter from western US mostly distributed at motorcycle dealers etc in the west. I have a sub to it because it has good articles on safety, prices and gadgets that I dont get info about in my area. They do reviews on a new bike or 2 an issue and there are a few colour pics, but its mostly newsprint which is fine with me. Brian
az1103 Posted January 16, 2009 #4 Posted January 16, 2009 Just stay away from Baggers , it has nothing to do with touring and is exclusively HD . Pure weird stuff with the usual beer-bellied, unhelmeted grubolas.... Would'nt carpet a parokeet cage with it.

Mariner Fan Posted January 16, 2009 #6 Posted January 16, 2009 I subscribe to Roadrunner as well. Seems to be the best suited to my interests. I swear that they must be getting some kind of kickback from Victory Motorcycles since every issue has an article about them. Other than that, I like it alot.
Missionary Rider Posted January 16, 2009 #7 Posted January 16, 2009 Ditto on Rider and Roadrunner. I also enjoy Ride Texas Magazine. It is similar in content to Roadrunner and you don't have to live in Texas to enjoy it. Lynn
Guest BluesLover Posted January 16, 2009 #8 Posted January 16, 2009 RoadRunner is my favourite. Canadian rag by the name of Motorcycle Mojo's not too bad either, but doesn't cover touring bikes too much. Cheers,
dynodon Posted January 16, 2009 #9 Posted January 16, 2009 20 years ago during my first fling with motorcycles, I loved Rider magazine. Almost all touring, and not much Harley. Great articles about rides and lots of variety. Skip forward through kids and life and now semi retired I buy another bike ('86 VR) and subscribe to Rider again. It is a different magazine. More crotch rockets and cruisers than touring. To be fair, there isn't that much new every month for big touring bikes, but still, I don't enjoy Rider much and won't renew. Don't know why, but the trip articles in Rider this last year have been boring. Back in the day, the wife and I took a GREAT trip based on an article about the TWO campground in Suches GA. I think it is still there in the Blue Ridge moutains of N. Georgia. Will try Roadrunner next.
