I have a question ... today i recieved my hopnel tank tie and was going to install it but now i have questions.. do i need to remove the old rubber piece from the center of the tank? and will this strech into place it seems to off just a little bit?

Yes you should remove it first. It will stretch some. I had trouble with mine not fitting tight enough so I used double sided tape underneath it.

I just left the excess alone....tried to fold it over and stick it on but in won't stay. It don't interfere with anything.

did anyone have to cut off any excess from the top end by the handle bars?

 

I forgot till you posted that I had to cut the gas fill neck hole bigger on mine. It was off center. Just like me :rotfl:

the gas cap is off center on mine as well i got it trimmed out to get it on but the slots for the plastic cover near the gas cap is off to so i may have to trim that as well.. so just leave the extra alone on the end?

I trimmed the front on mine and used 2 sided tape to hold it. Mine also did not align perfectly with the holes/slots, but with a little finessing it will fit...
