Visited the Indian showroom today

These are not our fathers Indian.The bikes are awesome looking but the prices were 30K to 40K.I was wanting to ask if they were meant to be driven.I am afraid in this economy Indian will go out business again.

You are right about the chances of the New Indian Company lasting. The most recent Indian from a few years ago was in the $23,000 range, baring no accessories. They certainly are pretty though, I just love the look. Nice if you have the money to burn.

However, we are not in that category, so we will stick with our RSV.

Personally I think the Indian Chief was/is/will be the most handsome motorcycle ever built but hey,, that and 4 dollars will get a coffee at starbucks LOL

Many of the bikes on the floor had passenger pegs and did not have the seat.

The poor guys that keep trying to bring the brand back keep shooting for a higher and higher end costumer. The problem is that there are fewer and fewer high end riders to keep a company like that alive. The high end of the market is flooded with customs and the like. they should have started with a low end bike and worked thier way back up or at the very least one high end and one low end machine. $40k for a bike? Thats what I paid for my house and that came with 8 acres of land!

If you think Yammi parts are expensive go check out the prices for Indian bike parts. That alone should make someone think twice before buying a over-priced scoot like that. Too rich for my blood and common sense.......

I think I remember something about the New Start Up company this time is going to keep production very low.

And mostly just build bikes " To Order " If sombody wants to order one, they will build it.

 

There was a company down in Oregon about 10 years ago building a Modern Reproduction of the Old " Norton Commando " A modern reproduction. But they would only build the bike if you put the Money Up Front. As I recall it was about 18K. But it was a Very High Quality machine. They were building the Engines from Scratch. Looked like the original, but Extreme High Quality.

I believe it was 850 CC, and made about 85 HP. Total weight of the bike was only around 350 Lb.

 

I would love to have one of those!!! Not sure if they are still in business. But if your a Brittish bike fan, and have the money to spend !!!!!!!!

They build the Engines In House, Modern suspension, and brakes. Nothing but the best components, but they are not cheap.

There is an Indian dealer in Lowell, NC that I pass by on I-85 three or four times a week. I rarely see any cars in front of the dealership when I go by. The factory is farther south on I-85 in Kings Mountain, NC and the few times I went by it, it was pretty slow. When they held the open house, I rode my Venture to it and the salesman had no idea what I was riding; he said "nice hog".
